I now run around in a cheap 21 year old Audi tt roadster 225 and strangely get loads of attention.
The original TT shape still looks good now.

I'm not surprised it turns a few heads.
Still a brilliant looking car. There's some locally to me, they certainly do turn my head.

I see this is quite an old thread and the OP had a Evo 6 , which incidentally was also the car that I owned that received the most negative attention, especially from the yoofs.

One of the best cars I ever drove:

That 335ps was enough for me!

I've had a ride in the Aston Martin Atom.

When Tom Rollason owned it.

The front wheels rubbed the wings when cornering hard. I think he was asking a bit much of it.

It got quite a lot of attention.
See Tom regularly. He only has 4 Astons now biggrin It caused a lot of comments from the neighbours when it was on a trailer outside my house after he had some work done on it round the corner from me. When we had it on the AMOC stand the first time at the classic car show at the NEC it won car of the show.

Such an amiable man. I wrote a short piece on the car for the AM Review in the 90s. When I was taking the pictures he fetched a pair of steps. Such a simple idea, but it made a world of difference to my usual car photos.

Some nice features on the car. Half the Aston wings as the swept back bonnet motif comes to mind.

RX8 - Nothing apart from scaring the inlaws when it spat fire at them convoying back from a country pub one night.

350Z - The local school kids loved it, I used to call it the Savilemobile.

M3 - Nothing

911 - Gets a few looks, generally from middle aged blokes but no comments.

The car that gets the most attention now a days is my black track prepared, road legal e36 M3. Gets lots of positive attention.

Was once taken out in a fully liveried up Lister Bell Stratos. In a 20 min drive there was more attention, thumbs up and pictures taken than any other car I have been in.

Thanks I think it still looks quite modern for its age.

P.s I couldn’t help looking at your car history - wow! That is the most pistonheaded previous car garage I have ever seen and has many of my dream cars in there, I take my hat off to you sir.

I've been driving a W124 for 20 years and only in the last couple of years has it attracted any attention or comments. Most recently from a young fella who said him and all his friends think they're cool. He said he'd buy it if I ever want to sell. Sometimes people smile at it as it goes by. It's usually non-enthusiasts, though. Those in the know don't care for the humble 4 pot.

Smart roadster- moderate amount, almost all positive

Elise- quite a lot, all positive- especially from children

Caterham- loads, mostly positive apart from the odd cyclist, I think because of the noise (it was the 1.6 supersport with the 5speed so if you were moving at any speed it was being worked hard)

Mk1 mx5/eunos- mainly from other mx5s, esp na/nb drivers.
I’m not ashamed to admit to ‘waving’ with the pop up headlights at other NAs biggrin got asked by an older gent what it was once as the eunos badge isn’t well known.

911- very little, very mixed; it’s a purist/poverty spec 996, so it’s just another porker to most, seems to garner a bit of aggro on the road from time to time, in particular people seem to like pulling out in front of it at effectively brake check distances which led to a shunt during the cold snap

I used to have a TVR Chimaera, which got a lot of attention, mostly from petrol heads, blank stares from people who didn't know what it was.

A lot of attention from older people I used to have one those when I'm out in my MGB Roadster.

Waves from other Land Rover Defender owners with my Land rover Defender 110. People smile and Children point.

My VW T6 Caravelle. Nothing...🙂

Murcielago SV: Lots of attention, mainly positive
Aventador: ditto
Aventador SV: ditto
Aventador SVJ: ditto
Urus: Far less than the above
Bentayga: Fairly anonymous, with a few negative reactions
Cadillac Escalade: Massive abuse with a handful of exceptions
RR Ghost: Little attention until I put the plate SK11 NTT on it then equal amounts of abuse and grins
911: Next to anonymous
RR Cullinan: The automotive equivalent of walking around in a KKK outfit, carrying a burning cross. Total hate.
Range Rover: Completely anonymous and a pleasure as a result

A Friend had a RR Phantom Drophead that didn't last long after people were being rude to him. Must be a weird experience getting abuse for an object that's been bought.
Some people just don't like other having nice things..

It was weird. And not very pleasant. There's something uniquely offensive about the Cullinan it seems, that goes beyond its price. Shame, because it was lovely to drive.

well, it is very offensive on the eye! there's a white one near me, not the best colour obviously, but it sticks out against the Bentaygas, RR, Taycans down the same street. it really looks like a middle finger to everyone else!

All ways getting people coming up for a look, camera phones out being filmed while driving, people just looking in general..

While its parked in our factory/warehouse the amount of customers who say "we had one of those" "learnt to drive in one of those" "that was my first work van" etc etc etc.

Love that. We had a Clubman Traveller that once caught fire whilst my dad was driving it to work. I asked him what he did and he replied, 'I was nearly there so I carried on and parked, then I went and got a fire extinguisher from the foyer and went and put the fire out'. Different times.

Anyway, not my car but amusing for various reasons: most of you will remember the fashion, circa 10 years ago, for young hipsters to buy then cheap 1980s horrors and then fit them with nasty looking wheels, roof-racks, chrome foglights and suspension so low the sills would touch the ground. A Vauxhall Chevette decked out in such fashion once followed me into a shopping centre car park. The young hipster driver and I parked our cars and simultaneously began the walk to the shops. At the same time a middle aged couple, walking the other way, espied the Chevette and began loudly discussing it.

'Here, didn't you have one of those,' said the man.

'Yes,' replied the wife. 'It was a load of c**p. You'd be mad to want one now.'

The poor young hipster, overhearing, looked entirely crushed.

As a young kid I got stuck in one of those for what seemed like hours but was probably 5 mins.
It’s still the only car I know of that you open the door from the inside by pulling a cable. hehe

Negative attention, in that attracting attention was negative, or that the attention that it attracted was negative ..... e.g. risks of theft etc??

I recall having a Sierra Cosworth in the early 90s, and on more than one occasion, I was followed on my way back towards my home, which became obvious when I'd take a weird diversion through an industrial estate, or zig zag around some houses.

Always managed to give them the slip with a fun blast down a straight road, or by circling a couple of roundabouts so they knew they'd been rumbled.

Long before social media, camera phones, or dash cams.

Very much a weekend car, so no local journeys. I'm not driving through the local high street. Go's fairly unnoticed. Nice rumble sound and petrolheads will know it's an AMG and what that means. Wife thinks it's a thug's car!
Main give away is when in Sport+. Thunderous up changes and pop's and bangs changing down. Which I'll save for deserted A roads on an early morning blat'
