What's the best-looking hatchback ever?

Have to agree, the base Delta is a complete mess but in Intergrale form not just the Evos it's awesome. HF turbo looks cool too it's weird really. Same goes for the Escort Cossy, amazing looking car but the standard car looks a mess.r11co said:
Best looking hatchback ever (so far) though?! I'm going to stick my neck out and say previous generation Astra...
There is just something very cohesive about it (that has been very noticeably lost with the latest iteration) that makes even base models look 'good'.
Being pedantic, that's a GTC rather than a 5-door Astra, and it's (at this stage), the current model. The body of the GTC only shares the door handles with the Astra and is more like an Insignia coupe, size-wise.There is just something very cohesive about it (that has been very noticeably lost with the latest iteration) that makes even base models look 'good'.
But I do agree with you, it's a very good-looking hatch, especially with the rear three-quarter view.

Have to agree with this. Looks mean and has a great NA V6 to boot.
Although a bit bias, I'd be inclined to include the MK4 R32 with this, similar enough to the original but with a flair that makes it a tad more interesting
Really? The front lower grilles look like cheap aftermarket. The rest looks fine.Although a bit bias, I'd be inclined to include the MK4 R32 with this, similar enough to the original but with a flair that makes it a tad more interesting
So a normal GTI in that shape looks far better to me.
1960s Sunbeam Stiletto.Hatches were otherwise limited to the Renault 4 and 16, Citroen Ami or A40/Innocent Farina.
1970s I always thought the Chevette was the best design, the Alfasud didn't gain a hatch until later, it had a boot. However, the Citroen GSA and CX (was it a hatch?) probably take the prize. The Capri II ad III but I liked the Lancia Beta and Fiat 127 and 128 Coupe/3P.
1980s - was never a huge fan of the Peugeots and the CX was still about. Alfa GTV if it was a hatch...new Renault 5.
My ideal hatches would be clean and stylish so the Golf Mk IV, visually, was very good as was the Mk 6 Fiesta.

I was more thinking:
Atleast its not another grey german software salesmans runaround.
Oh right. These too then.Atleast its not another grey german software salesmans runaround.
Unfortunately, French car design seems to have largely lost its individualism (C4 Cactus I know but that's just weird) and just deliver us something else that looks German.

Regardless of whether these are good looking or not, neither the Citroen C6 or CX were hatchbacks.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
