Observed this morning in a field not a million miles from Stonehenge. A Snowtrack Snowmobile, according to its custodian. Every home should have one. At least one.
They rebuilt on on Salvage squad many many years back. Powered by a beetle engine i think..

While riding through Sweden on the way to the Nordkapp I met a bloke riding this lovely Norton Commando. It's his only bike, he said he just rides it in summer and works on it in winter.
My first big bike was a 1974 model in a metallic red - bought second hand (about 4 years old). I Ran it for a couple of years and struggled to sell it for £425!!!

Looks like the lovechild of a Land Rover, a tank and a 2CV!

This, looking rather sorry for its self in a pub car park in south Wales on Monday.

Not been on the road for six years, needs saving ! Was thinking about enquiring as to the whereabouts of the owner and making a cheeky offer,
The huge potential bork factor put me off and I don't think the misses would have been too happy

Excuse the crap phone pic
Mind if I ask which pub / whereabouts?

If you're going to have an arch in the garden as a feature you may as well have one of a decent size.

This is a fabulous house on the back road from Andover to Newbury. I think it's called Prosperous Farm.

We have an arch in the Parterre at Pushfit Towers. It's a joke to do with sculpture artists.

It's a stainless steel flue liner in a large hoop. Photo from the West Wing albeit 40 metres away...

Prosperous Farm is near the village of Hurstbourne Tarrant. I just did a bit of research.

The arch was one of two old entrances to Doiley (or Doyley) Manor and the iron gates themselves are from Newgate Prison. And there's a ghost story.

We look forward to seeing the size of your croquet mallet.

Brilliant. But erected a hundred years after the event. The wounds of the two World Wars have taken a long time to heal. When I was writing for the AMOC I was approached by a young German enthusiast who was coming to the UK to do research for a book about Astons for the German market. He wanted to meet some of the names from AML history. Most were agreeable but one wouldn't answer either my, or the German lad's, enquiries. It was all a bit awkward; the German lad clearly didn't understand and was hurt by the snub. It turns out the chap he wanted to meet had fought on the Allied side while his Italian cousins were fighting for the other side. Met him at a function some months later and it was if nothing had happened. Deep wounds.

A bit earlier I saw a bloke on the M25 in an MG Midget with nothing but a flat hat and a Brooklands aero screen between him and the weather. Top man.

A DC 3 used as a seating area in New Zealand
Old DC3 never die they just get repurposed.

Another one from 2005 (also in NZ - Mangaweka) used as a tearooms.

More recently it apparently looks like this now:

There used to be a sign nearby which said 'Beware Low-Flying Tearooms'.

Also from NZ (where else smile ):

They were shops in the shape of a sheep, ram and sheepdog all made from corrugated iron but that was back in 2005 or so. Not sure whats happening with them now.

That's a letter to the Parish Council I would have liked to have seen:

Dear Sirs,
I should like to point out that the distances to Buttermere and Andover quoted on the new signpost are incorrect and suggest that a plate showing the correct distances is cast and bolted over the existing sign as a matter of urgency.
Yours faithfully,

Dear Sirs
As you may be aware Andover has moved nearer due to a shift in the local tectonic plates so the road sign is no longer correct. I have fashioned a plate from an old cricket scoreboard and will be taking the matter into my own hands if I do not hear from you by Tuesday next
Many thanks

UK version at Lutterworth

I bought a TV from a guy in Rugby a few years ago, very nice house, as we were chatting he said this used to be Frank Whittle's house, he designed the jet engine in this room.

I'd always admired Frank Whittle and thought the war may have been shorter or maybe not happened at all if the government had listened to him in the mid 30s and put money into jet development.

that looks more like a repair to me, all road signs were removed during WW2, perhaps private pike took that side off with a sledge hammer as Captain Mainwaring was shouting, no no you stupid boy

Saw this in Swindon. Some kind of coal powered tractor. No idea what he was out and about for.

And found the Google Street view people in Canada.
Hmm top pic is on the Toys R Us roundabout at the end of the A420, one of the worse roundabouts in Swindon for accidents! I use it nearly every day and dislike it a lot.

What a pretty spot... half expecting Roger Moore to appear in a white P1800, looking at that. He did venture outside Hertfordshire occasionally when filming The Saint!
