e39 m5 and bank the rest
Except they're getting on now, look massively dated and are seriously overhyped on PH ... or to mention rapidly becoming the council car of choice ... great!I had an 09 GTR for two years a few yrs back and only lost a grand on it. If I still had it now 4+ yrs on I reckon I might have even made a few quid on it. Replaced that with a 2008 R8 V8 manual which I have had for 2.5 yrs now and would probably get my money back bar a grand or two.
Both are pretty safe bets but neither are cheap to run!

Almost every car depreciates around 50% in 3 years. The ones that don't depreciate either,
Err no. Look at a Focus RS, Wrx Sti Cosworth, Exige S etc.- never sold in very big numbers because they're simply not popular, so why would you want one (Evora), or
- depreciated like a lead balloon in their early years because there's no demand in the used market for a car with savage running costs (Maserati).

Not yet mate. To be honest I sometimes question the need. My mate has a Tamora running just under 400bhp and the C63 was only a tiny bit slower (half a car length) upto about 9 leptons from a roll and quicker above. It's already too fast for the road really and I'm worried il get myself in trouble.
It's more the fact that I know it's not producing what it can due to artificial restriction that bugs me more than the need for more power.
If you want more performance I would try the Ftype. Only car I've driven that was more lairy than the C63. It tried to spit me off in third gear, dry but bumpy road in a straight line with everything on. Luckily I was awake.
I feel exactly the same way. It's more the fact that there is an artificial limit there rather than i feel it needs more power (it doesn't!)It's more the fact that I know it's not producing what it can due to artificial restriction that bugs me more than the need for more power.

The V8 F-Type appeals to me in the same way as the C63 - i'm sure there are more accomplished cars out there but there is something about the V8 F Type that is just mental!

Pretty sure that will fail on "the least depreciation" front
oh really?I'm pretty sure it won't. Educate yourself.

Even the article says it's expensive and over priced as does all the comments. Just because they are asking that, doesn't mean it will achieve anywhere near that.
I'm not even sure if 240BHP classes as high performance these days either.

Souped up Civic saloon might do well on video games but it's going to have a very limited market, which could make it hard to sell.
As someone who owns an early V8V manual, it actually makes for a decent everyday car BUT:
- very heavy controls
- quite raw in the ride/NVH department
I love it for these things, as it makes the car feel a bit special, but it certainly lacks the wafty quality of more senior Astons in the model range. Feels like a proper weekend car - not sure if you would want to drive it through town every day. It is good on the motorway, though, and superb on a B road. Just a bit chuntery and heavy in town.
Interestingly, if I can get my house renovation in on budget, I'll be selling it and going to an R8 V10. But I drive for pleasure, not commuting...
