You're all way off. It's clearly a Peugeot 107 with QuickQuack's boy at the wheel...

No you didn't, Im still tying to decide if 'real world 'point to point' means, every day use under all 'British' conditions
For the purpose of this thread point to point refers to sweeping back roads, minimal/no traffic, tight roads, winding with dodgey camber.

The latest RS3, they are under-quoted and it's not unusual for them to do 0-62 in around 3.6 - 3.8 seconds

Suzuki Ignis Sport. I'd be surprised if it's possible to go faster on UK roads than you can in one of those beasts.
Problem is that you have to spend a couple of hours before each drive psyching yourself up to prepare yourself to challenge the beast that is the Ignis...

By the time you've been out in the Thrust SSC for an hour or two to acclimatise your brain to the speed and acceleration the Ignis can generate you're already running late frown

Oh Cool.

How does that translate to minimal understeer and agility on this task?

Point to point out in the countryside? Probably a Bowler, assuming you're friendly with all the landowners between said points...

My Caterham.

Easily quicker than anything else I've owned. (And that includes an Impreza, an FTO and a 205GTi)
Is that because a Caterham feels faster? But is it really?

Problem with Caterham as a pure point to point proposition even in dry conditions is low driving position...unless you are on perfectly flat ground you can be on the power much earlier in cars with better visibility of the road ahead.
Nah, visibility has never been a problem.

Good question - it feels faster by a long long way, is it actually faster? Yes but by the margin suggested, possibly not.

Haha, in my experience its normally the Subaru rally rep fanboys who crawl out the woodwork and shout everybody down in these threads. Im actually suprised its already 2 pages in with only 1 mention.

Also being from the north of scotland id have to say something like a RR SVR or Bowler defender. Gives you the height to see over other cars and hedges making b-road driving much quicker if you account for traffic. Also arguably better than the rally reps when heavy snow comes into the equation.

Personally I cant wait for properly hot crossovers to come on to the market, I think these will dominate for real world (yeah I know) b-road hoons.

Edit: or if the weather is good: obligatory mention of literally any superbike.

Astra van

But seriously after spending the last 7 1/2y in a RR Sport a high vantage point is worth a lot of bhp when it comes to planning and executing overtaking safely

A bit big for the average B road though. Also a lot of metal to stop and not the best in corners.

I'd agree with the earlier poster who said 911 Turbo S. Smaller than an RS6,GTR. Great brakes, bags of power and ridiculous traction. Year round on stty british roads and in changeable conditions I'm not sure anything could best it still?

Well unless you're doing back to back hairpin turns (which isn't one of the criteria) you shouldn't worry

The Micra 1.0 I drove on my very first driving lesson. I swear I was doing at least 300 mph on the back roads. hehe

It felt like it anyway!
