Agreed, maybe a side thread would be building your dream car out of previous vehicles you've owned (engine, gearbox, handling, styling etc)...

I'd say thats cause Pistonheaders like to experience different cars and like a bit of variety in noise, power, handling and feel. There is no point comparing heated seats, dimming mirrors or the like, it's essentially the same thing whatever the brand.

I drive huge distances top down without one ,don't know what the fuss is about.

I'd go with heated front screen too except it's a thing I've had in my Fords and my current wheels

are Fiat shaped.

Sun visors where an extra visor can be folded out to cover side glare, as opposed to swivelling the one visor.

Mirrors which automatically dip when reverse selected.

As my wife "feels the cold" dual zone heating.

When I first met her, her idea of being" just right" resulted in my face melting.

so if we rank cars based on the above - which is the most desirable car in the world based on:
- quantity of above features
- % of its features which are on the list above

biggrin

I find that at different times I want different things, so not all cars work all the time for me which makes it difficult - other than owning several cars!

Or if you have a garage... but then I based my opinion on my weekend car which I won't take far in the cold.

Tje seats from my old E39 M5 which were articulated on the seatback so you could fit the seat to your back. They were the most comfortable seats on any car I have owned.

Heated screen again. Regardless of where you live or have a garage. Have you never come out of a pub in winter and found the car iced over? OK, if you live in Spain or S of France, maybe not.

Otherwise - I'd have the "don't-give-a-sh*t-what-you-think" ness of a beaten up old 2CV on a sunny day in France. See also an old Land Rover when you're wearing wellies and it's raining.

& fuel cutoff at 9200 IIRC - like a brake being applied. TBH while it was fun, I'm now driving an Alfa 3.2V6 which would probably steer me in engine choice for the next car.

Don't all cars do this these days? (If not, give it two years and every one will).

  • except Caterhams etc wink
