RE: Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG: Spotted
Discussion
I loved my old C36 and did consider one of these for a while, but just adding two cylinders didn't seem reason enough.
Not sure why you would now though, when you can get a C32 for half the price, as I did.
They all do a similar thing though - waft along happily until you put your foot down and they are always shockingly quick. The perfect combination of comfort, practicality (mine's an estate) and hooliganery, I do love an AMG.

Lovely cars
I'd like to drive one as I am semi-tempted at the moment. I have feeling it'll be lolloppy in the corners paired with a fairly inert slushbox
Many years ago I drove a rare manual C280 Elegance a mate had and loved it. A few years later I bought a C280 Sport, inevitably an auto. I'd like to drive one as I am semi-tempted at the moment. I have feeling it'll be lolloppy in the corners paired with a fairly inert slushbox
It was indeed lolloppy in corners with an inert slushbox, but a pretty crashy ride that wasn't at all what I expected from a Merc. The manual Elegance at least had a decent ride and drove sharper.
But now I have become a serial BMW owner I think I'd go for an M3 every time!

Had a blue estate version for a short time years ago. Really sharp, strong brakes, lovely engine note and looked lovely (mine was a V plate facelift) but nothing exciting beyond that and I'd struggle to justify £10k on a near 100,000 mile one now.
You're the guy who had that Buick featured in PH Carpool right?Had one of these pretty much identical to the car featured, until it got written off by a badly driven police car... loved it for the wonderfully beefy V8 woofle, and bags of muscular grunt. Interior looked new after 100k miles too. It ate a gearbox without warning though and as the article identifies, it loved to rust. Can't believe they have appreciated that much in price though, and not sure I'd pay that money for one.
