Delivering cars, and driving so many cars over the years in various roles, has jaded me a bit. Nothing really cuts through - except for the rare times I get to drive a Lotus. Bloody wonderful things. Were I a richer man - I'd buy one. The antidote to the utter toss most manufacturers churn out.

Post no. 38 in 8 years....

This linkage is far better than the last one, of that there is no doubt.
Admittedly there are better out there..

I worry for Lotus now.

How many of these specials are they selling?

It smacks a bit of Rover SV, building supercars just before they went bust.

I know Lotus is not a mass market manufacturer but still can't see them selling enough of these to sustain the business long term.

They're going to be bought out next year - hopefully by Geely.
Won't go bust.

Too expensive
Old engine
Lotus are going bust
Needs smaller sills
Too expensive
Should be £40k less
Buy a Porsche instead

Ad infinitum ....
What does more for less?
And? If it's a beaut? You'd rather a 'modern' blown 4-pot?
Same story for the last 50yrs
Needs more agile drivers
See Above
Should be £27k? Really? Because what car at £27k is comparable?
... on that point, 'you' probably should. rolleyes

Well done Lotus, you give us what we want. Just ignore the BRAKE-fan killjoys who whinge about anything/everything. Pity them, life is lonely without girlfriends/living with their parents/etc wink
I think Lambshank was just putting the inevitable other crazy side across where people compare it to a 4 cyl German car with turbos that allows you to buy a colour matched keyring for £200. Which is insane. I never liked the new Lotus design, it looked too wishy washy compared to the mk2 but they have sorted this out now, that looks very tasty indeed for a PH person. Also,

"The new model weighs just 1,066kg, produces 380hp, has a top speed of 178mph, and go from 0-60mph in just 3.5 seconds"

I can't afford this car, but I'd bloody well love to give it a try, that sounds mouth watering for a weekend blast or a long trip to the far corners of our empire ( Wales, Scotland and maybe the IOM if they have not joined Germany in the meantime after Brexit).

I take my hat off to Lotus, they went from a bad period with crazy ideas to really cracking on with being a 21st C version of TVR, with added lightness. Something to savour when you have weekday cars overweight, overpowered and full of electronics to control it.

Rather than the old Buy British, please BUY LOTUS cars

I hate to say this, but can you imagine what a Lotus SUV would be like? I think groundbreaking. getmecoat

For fk sake Lotus!!!!

I just bought my V6 Exige in April, since then the Sport 350 came out and i felt like a peasant with small balls, now this has come out and i feel even more st about myself and my life.

I guess when the finance is up on the current one, there may have to be another discussion with the dealership. fkers!

Lucky you didn't get a McLaren eh?

That's one thing I've always wondered these specials. Would the dealer be better off informing the potential customer that a new model is on the way, pricing the current piece of kit accordingly and hoping for repeat business, or is it simply "buyer beware"?

I'm sure that Lotus could facilitate an upgrade at a reasonable* fee.

They are not in the volume business in the same way, and simply the addition of more dealerships is helping them a lot. They are profitable now too and sop that's all that matters plus there's a new Elise in 2020 and an SUV too.

In keeping with the modern theme of cars becoming bloated, I can't believe an Exige is now over 1000KG. Just seems wrong.

That is pretty stunning apart from the paint scheme, one flat colour with maybe some bare aluminium or carbon and that would be perfect. Well done Lotus.
