I know about the Evora and I've seen a couple of them on the road now and then. They look better in the flesh than in photos but ultimately, I don't consider them to be a great looking car. There's a sort of blend of Japanese cues with Kit car front end blandness that makes the whole a bit characterless. Lotus I would argue need to get into the 150K road car category if the brand is to have any real chance of being a desirable top end brand again and into the future. They have the history, they have the heritage. I just don't go for this hardcore track day weekend warrior toy image they've cultivated. i'd love to see the Lotus name back on something really desirable and I don't see the Evora in that category. (Hell, even the Exige is a bloody road car...)

I can't imagine spending 70K on a car and not being bothered what it looks like. The whole enjoyment from a car for me comes from the totality of how it drives, how it works, how it looks, how it lasts, everything, the whole package. As it's often being said, it's easy to build a fast track car. It starts to get complicated when it needs to do other stuff as well. For 70K the Evora needs to be delivering in many areas, build quality, modernity, reliability, refinement and...looks included. Imho! Each to their own.TerryThomas said:

Lotus are working on a quieter exhaust o think.... in fact you may already be able to buy it
A little silly of them I think when they sell you something like this that cannot be driven at circuits due to noise levels.
These cars have switchable exhaust valves however and there is talk of them passing the limits with the exhaust on quiet, although the valve opens at higher revs. So you may get pulled off.
The v6 and the sport 350 I think are OK, however the evora 400 and the Exige 380 won't be.

Nah, the exhaust valves open at about 4,500 RPM but the static test is around 5,000 or so so you can't beat that test. The drive-by you are totally screwed as the dB limit is usually lower but the Evora and Exige 380 are shouting at over 110 dB on drive-by. I know it sounds good but it's so retarded that they don't have a track-ready exhaust mode to at least quiet it down by 10dB or so.
