Mr Flustered, can you give me the deets of the MB garage in Surrey/SW London?
I intend to purchase a benz but always like to scope out a few marque specialists first! I am in Kingston/Surbiton area.
Cheers
Of course. I used Merc Repairs Ltd, Hastings Road, Croydon. They don't seem to have a website but are easy enough to google. As I said, I had a particularly encouraging and cost-effective experience. I intend to purchase a benz but always like to scope out a few marque specialists first! I am in Kingston/Surbiton area.
Cheers
However given that, unlike me, you don't live in a part of south London that's usually on fire, it may be a bit far for you.
My initial searches found that the place in SW London was Steve Readfern's eponymous garage in Wimbledon. Googling Steve Readfern Motor Co will undoubtedly find him. I personally cannot comment on his work (quality or price), but the received wisdom of losers past is that he is the dog's danglies with respect to old shoddy Mercs (no offence meant to owners of shoddy old Mercs).

It's good chat to have here, but please do share the details there too.
CdG, I've been a few pages behind, finally caught up now. I just spotted your latest purchase! Bravo!
When you have it back, I definitely want to see it, if only to sit in the back and find out what it's like. Hope I can catch you before you sell it and buy some other thread masterpiece.
If the mexican hats alloys you have are the same size as mine you might be able to get some relatively cheap michelins. I think most however are slightly larger, harder to find tyres for and not cheap.
Midlands specialist are you going binky shop or griffin?

S60R looks good, manual box which is less prone to meltdown than the chocolate auto.
How's this instead?
LS400, LPG, DHP wheels (although in need of refurb), decent MOT history and inoffensive colours. £1500 pre-haggle.

In comparison with the generally awful rest of its genre, this is a deeply, DEEPLY cool car. Want one.The XJ8 went into restricted performance mode today (very restricted!) and goes there if you use significant revs several times. Annoying as I had been getting on with it very well.
Any ideas? Obviously get it to my mechanic and get the faults read. However I have 2 cars there already and owe him some parts!
Hopefully not the gearbox saying goodbye...

More likely throttle body not a hard job and cheaper than a gearbox ,ps try some cleaner first only a few quid Any ideas? Obviously get it to my mechanic and get the faults read. However I have 2 cars there already and owe him some parts!

Traction control failure
And
Using the traction control off button seems to mean you can't trigger the fault (fingers crossed). Would this make sense?
When I said significant revs earlier, I think it was kickdown on a poor surface.

Thanks chum. The Midlands chap is Griffin, of whom I hear good things. When you have it back, I definitely want to see it, if only to sit in the back and find out what it's like. Hope I can catch you before you sell it and buy some other thread masterpiece.

Very happy to let you sample the back, as long as you don't sit there and command 'drive on' with me in the driver's seat!
Thanks for the info on tyres. I'll undoubtedly be picking your brains on those and other stuff in due course.
