Really puts it into perspective when an E43 starts at £55k these days...

I suppose the most comparable item from the moderns would be a Mondeo Vignale, which even with the petrol engine and all the options ticked is a shade over £35k list.

For a minute I mistook it for M Jackson's infamous car

But nice car.

Looks tidy and well specced. Good 210s are a rare thing now. I think mine is about to go to the great 210 scrapyard in the sky frown (jacking points all rusted)

Needless to say, in best thread tradition, I haven't been to look at it.

Looks good r129: a 430 I presume?

Love complete rows of switches, looks very highly specified.

From reading the owner's thread, and his subsequent classified ad for the car, I'd say this Jag is "there or thereabouts".

In other words, all the important stuff works. biggrin

To be fair, for just over three bags of sand, one can't expect perfection.

Added to which, seeing this sentence in the ad "...but sadly saving for a house and doing the decent thing and buying an amphibious military lorry means that something has to give!" does give it a certain 'feeling'.

From XJR to wading lorry - that's a big step up in performance.

Ah, I know EXACTLY who that jag used to belong to!

That'll be PHer LewG, who previously restored a lovely V12 XJS and has just bought a "spares or repairs" Stolly (he is a very, very brave man!)

One contrast about the jag compared to my mercs is the capability at 100+. On an empty (Cough: German) Edinburgh to Glasgow road this afternoon I slowed down to take this.

I like the idea of an XJR but definitely don't need one!
I think you need to book some time off and join our Lemans convoy if that's your cruising pace hehe
I may or may not have been part of the legendary "Team Prescott" XJ convoy to LM'14.... we cruised effortlessly at 140mph on some parts of the French motorways whistle

E430, yes. Advert here: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

It's pretty loaded.

COMAND.
Bose sound system.
Heated, electric, memory front seats.
Glass sunshine roof.
Xenon lights.
Wood and leather wheel.
CD-changer.
Rear window roller blind.

But heated rear seats FTW.

The seller assures me it does not have the standard rust. We shall see... It arrives tonight or tomorrow morning.

That is, genuinely, the first 21st century Mercedes Benz to interest me as an actual ownership proposition. Well boughted, JR.

As you say chaps yes the Jag is mine, a shame to get rid but as long as it goes to a decent new owner I'll be a happy man. It's been a good old steed, still never fails to make me giggle with how daft the thrust is on putting your foot down biggrin
It's not perfect but more than anything it's just small niggly things that could pretty much be sorted in a weekend, nothing that actually stops it working as a car. Priced it accordingly though as has been said, a lot of car for not a lot of money.

Who wants standard rust when you can have extended rust as a no cost option.
