Slightly O/T, but on the topic of v90s:

Mrs Kul got her v90 this week. First impressions are positive, though the tech isn't as intuitive as the F11 5er that preceeded it.

Thanks for that, was pretty sure they were alright. Will be the first car I have bought from a Facebook ad if it's any good!
Old chap selling it as he cant get his stage lighting gear in the back anymore,

Should complement the B200 Mercedes that I picked up this week for the better half after someone wrote off her c-max in the hospital car park,

Is nice to have a more than pint sized petrol engine in a car again,

And Harry that looks like a great interior, Volvo have really upped their game recently

Do you still have that lovely blue Volvo?

I enjoyed a little time away (NOT at HM pleasure) and haven't seen you post about it since.
Well remembered! Yes I do still have it, a 2006 V70 T5 Ocean Race. Really pleased with it overall, and still like the colour! The OBC shows an overall mpg of around 28 (30 at the moment after 1000 or so motorway miles over the past couple of weeks) which seems OK, especially as I tend not to loiter.

Volvo servicing costs are reasonable at my local indy and it's passed the last couple of MOTs with no advisories. I had a major service and some work carried out about 15000 miles ago, including a gearbox fluid change, brake pads and discs, front control arms and other bits and pieces which came to around £1300 and since then it's just been another service and petrol. Tyres will be next I guess, but overall running costs have been very modest.

Harry - your V90 is a handsome car. If there's a petrol engine available I'd happily consider one of them.

Smashing.

I was saying to R129SL that very few 21st Century cars really turn me on. His recent purchase, and your Volvo, are two that really made me very jealous.

Glad to see you still have it and, most of all, are enjoying it.

Just picked up an E270 CDI (I know, devils fuel but needs must) 2005 Facelift, black on black with twin roof, xenons, Heated electric leather with memory, Command, Front and rear sensors. This now sits alongside my LS400, 330 cab, 330 touring & 190e. My mrs is going loopy laugh also at the ripe age of 23 am I the youngest threadist here?

Indeed, lovely looking machines. Alas, diesel only, although not sure if that's a bad thing or not: the choice of powerplants and capacities look pretty weedy at a glance, but performance and particularly economy figures actually look very impressive.

I'd earmarked one as something to buy in 10 years time, but in hindsight may be far better "buying" a new one and keeping it for 3+23 months- there are some good renting deals around and the spec levels on even the most basic model puts most of our old barges to shame. Tempted. One of very few new cars that take my fancy.

Very nice colours, Harry. There's hope for my fleet 15 years hence.

My new-to-me E continues to please. If they weren't so prone to rot, I think w210s would be the barge of choice. Mine is so comfortable and waft-tastic. My wife likened it to tumbling through the sky. Ever the poetic type. Pretty much everything still works. But they are prone to rot. I wonder how long mine will last before it goes seriously bad. I am noticing little speckles all over it.

Don't these suffer the curse of £500 VED?
Depends on the year, i think the later models with the SI drive carry the 500 ved. Mine does and has the SI. When I bought it, the 3.0 versions were typically cheaper, possibly because folks were put off by the tax bill. In fact I looked at a 4 cyl model at the time, it was the same spec apart from the motor and 2k more expensive, man maths dictated that this would pay for several years tax. There is little difference in the mpg
I have had it for 3.5 years and 65k miles, its a great car, I cant think of a better allrounder, except maybe a polestar v60
Just need to buy one 55 plate or earlier to get cheaper tax. 500 tax kicks in March 06 on 06 plates.
2.5s need cambelts, 3.0s are chain. So deploy some man maths and never mind the VED. I'd have a 3.0, obvs preferably a 55 or earlier though.

Now that really is lovely. Just picked up a D2, albeit the lowly 2.8QS, but what a timeless shape. This thing is a steal at the price!

Definitely go 3.0, I'm getting around 33mpg at the pump on mine not driving like a nun, engine is wonderful. Much smoother and more refined, much much more powerful, and even more reliable. I do believe it is barely any heavier as well.
