Me too! My children like to play in my car pretending they are the crew of a spaceship. They could go to the moon in the back of that.Liking the Toyota Century, as always. It would take balls to drive one, though!
Those Alpina wheels look like they should on something a period older ?
Have we had this cheap C140 coupe:

Beautiful colour combo on this S8 D2 just outside budget but with gearbox and cambelt attended to:

(I agree with his comments on FE v non-FE)

However, something about an established trader stating "NO WARRANTY GIVEN OR IMPLIED" sets my spidey-sense tingling.
Mild fleet update...
1. The 190 2.6 has passed its MOT after months of being in my mechanic's workshop. Hopefully his mate has also sorted the rust bubble...
2. I went to see the 500SL yesterday after abandoning it for 2 months (space issues!) expecting it to need the battery charging - it started on the first turn of the key, and Dan perfectly. The efforts of my mechanic and his electrics guy seem to have killed all starting and battery discharge issues.
3. I think the green 300e needs this fixing - the symptoms are the same (getting harder to start, ABS light on) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4sLoOpBaySU
4. I just remembered I own a gold 300e!
5. The jag issue going into limp home mode has reoccurred. Will get it fixed and flog it over the next few weeks.
The aim is to get down to two v8s - the 500sl and a more modern E class AMG thing.
Most of my issues at the moment come down to a lack of use with my cars

Would you consider an 8 and a 6, the latter just very recently appearing in the PH classifieds and a well-known auction site? Two cabrios would be really cool, especially if one of them was actually quite practical ...

Here's the photo you sent me of the 500 with the CE in the background:

Seems very well priced to me given it's the best engine, the best spec (early body, later engine), and has had a lot of work done.
CDG is a real gent to buy from!

I looked back in my emails to confirm and you appear to be selling the lovely 320CE.

Good spot 0a - the two cars do look great together don't they? Here's the photo you send me of the 500 with the CE in the background:
Sadly, the 320CE is going to have to go. The SLC is inbound and, rather more dramatically, the forthcoming house move to a listed pile with no garage means something has to give, and with 4 cars the solution is rather obviously one of them. Hopefully the lure of summer will encourage the cabrio hunters to check it out.
Dear beards. Any reason I shouldn't immediately rush out and buy an 06 C6 Audi A6 Avant 4.2 Quattro for less than top thread budget? Car itself looks great, I'm just looking at any pitfalls on these particular ones and my Audi beard is mere bumfluff. The only thing I know is to watch out for Multichronic CVT boxes and I believe that this one, being a Quattro, will have a convention auto... is that right?
I'm not an Audi beard, but I looked at an eBay ad for a £6K B6 S4 that had had the camchain replaced.
I googled to see what the better camchain solutions were, as there would seem no point in replacing a crappy, plastic camchain tensioner with a new one of the same design and materials. While looking I came across a US Co. that said that the the metal used for the variable valve actuator was of variable quality and the same V8 could have one worn one and one that's not worn on the same engine. I wasn't aware of that issue, only the camchain issues.
Thanks to those that flagged up the S8 caveat from the vendor of that red leather S8. I stopped reading at the bit about the transmission having been mended.
