I know little about these car to offer useful advice, but it's attractive in being so plain Jane but fast. Good choice if you go for it.
Likewise. Does that engine not use a bit of oil? Love the black and walnut interior too. Nice dog-hauler, but I'd be more tempted by the Merc E500 back a page or two, if only for the boot seats. Your tax will be high on that too, but I'm a convert to the "only a couple of tanks of petrol more than the lower band anyway" camp.

A great way to move a lot of stuff a long distance quickly and without being noticed.

Having taxed at 500 a few years myself it does psychologically sting more. It's almost like going 6 months earlier on a 55 plate is comparatively free servicing. Or thereabouts.

I pay monthly for my tax, so I think of it as an extra £15 per month. I'm sure I can find that tbh.

Have been away from barges for a while, I also have an M140 that I bought new last year. I've been putting far too many miles on it so figured I'd buy something cheap and comfortable for motorway work.

This popped up locally for a decent price on a FB group! Few messages and a viewing later.... she's home. Cleans up alright!

Looks good. How bad is the oil leak?

I'm still hunting for my barge. Haven't had much luck. However, I think I'm looking to close to home and need to open up the mileage to find something.

Not bad at all. It's the Standard E39 rocker gasket leak.

Don't think I've seen a white E39 wagon before - looks good. Plenty of grey leather interiors around if you wanted one

I've had mine eight years and it's been a perfect W124 estate substitute

Bloody Photobucket....I'll try again.i actually like the cloth. I'm sure the stains will clean out and they are super comfy with zero wear.

That looks bloody marvellous, as noted I bet the cloth will come up nicely with a good clean.

Can I be rude and ask how much?

As far as I understand Plod never had 525's. It would be a 530 and manual. Plus looking at the service history and the fact it's only done 99k makes me think not.
ETA: A beard informed me plod didn't have roof rails either.

I'm going to run it a few weeks and see what the fuel situation is. If it's bad I'll move it on as it defeats the object of buying it!

I paid £1100 but it needs 2 tyres and a service.

They all do that, sir. wink

If you're into cheap fixes, arm yourself with a tube of instant gasket, some baby wipes, and a roll of kitchen towel (sounds like a fun evening in, right?)

1) Have the rocker cover off.
2) Clean up both joining surfaces with baby wipes.
3) Dry both surfaces with kitchen towel.
4) Garm on a load of instant gasket. Don't be shy. laugh
5) Put the cover back on.
6) Get another baby wipe and clean the excess instant gasket off the engine.

I did this with my E39 a few years back, and it stayed dry.

Sold already.

Not surprised.

That's a strong contender for the best all-round car ever made, in great colours and with LPG, for the price of a nice telly.
