I agree the mileage won't help, but at this point in the pricing cycle you're selling to an enthusiast market (especially with a strong asking price - there's an £1800 540 touring on AT which hasn't shifted).
Those enthusiasts may be able to look beyond the mileage if the car is in top condition, and therefore less likely to throw a bill than something lower mileage with work outstanding.
I agree with your points, but I think the AT one hasn't shifted because it looks awful: Fake M-paras, horrid tints, gawdy non-OEM stereo, subwoofer in the boot to ruin the practicality, milky headlights, dodgy steering wheel cover, undesirable colour scheme (to me at least, can't stand black on black...)Those enthusiasts may be able to look beyond the mileage if the car is in top condition, and therefore less likely to throw a bill than something lower mileage with work outstanding.

600TT update. I finally got a bit of time with the car this evening and sorted out the scraping noise from the large wheels, it turns out they were hitting the mudflaps, have removed said flaps and that is one annoyance with the car gone. Went for a decent drive to celebrate then when I was at the petrol station another W220 turned up and the drive asked if I would sell to him, I was thinking about it then went for another drive and thought on balance it should stay......
Pleased to hear it is running better. I've been tracking 540 prices lately, and they're all over the place.
Agreeing with a few others on here, I do believe that anything over £2k for something with 200k+ miles - plus those faults - is pushing it.
Suspension creaks could be one of a number of things which, for the buyer, is an unknown cost and potentially spendy.
Replacing the rear airbag is a straightforward job but one that needs doing. £60 for a pattern part and 30mins to fit, so not too bad.
The other bits are haggling ammo for the buyer.
Ref. the Jag brochure: packet of fags in the cubbyhole!! :-)
Ref, the house: stone, wood and metal buildings are something that, ordinarily, I really like, but this is just wrong - beautiful house...let's fit some hideous electrical fittings to it, right in your eyeline; there's too much of the stone and wood - it needs some colour; the tiles in the bathrooms are gross; the pool looks like it'd induce claustrophobia (plus, at 20' across, what can you do in it?). Oh, and it looks very dark and I think the external steps should go the other way. Other than that, I love it. :-D

I hope I haven't missed this Volvo being posted previously? Seems almost good value for a 20 y.o. given the care and cash lavished on it.

That does look really nice - almost new still!http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=269...
So another 'oops' moment and I've bought another car - up to 5 now which is a bit of an issue but we will worry about that later.
Not sure if it really qualifies for the thread, given the wheezy 1.8 20v N/A engine, colour (!) and scuttle shake so apologies in advance! Just plan to use it whilst the sun is out then get rid (exactly what you shouldn't do with a cabrio!)

In relation to the above post, I've found an e39 520 for sale for about £900. Last owner had it for 12 years, 118k on the clock and is a 2002 vintage with cloth and manual gearbox.
Are the 520's rather wheezy and not worth pursuing? It seems like a nice thing and to be honest, I only want it to pootle around in like an old person anyway.

I'm ready to stand corrected, but I think the 520i is a small six rather than a 4-banger, and thus a very relaxed and refined way to mooch around. Are the 520's rather wheezy and not worth pursuing? I love it. Great colour and it looks nice and shiney. Audis from this era were well built but not handling machines. Perfect for pootling about in the sun. I like it. The engine wouldn't be my choice but the rest of it is civilised. I remember having one of these for a week on long-term test (what on earth has happened?) and being pretty impressed.

As for the engine, with the traffic being as it is, and with that roof down, you'll find yourself content to mooch along at a relaxed pace, so that little petrol engine will be just fine.
Great buy, and 5 cars makes you either very thread-worthy, or just insane.

I was going to say Java Green but that's the newer one i believe. I like it. The engine wouldn't be my choice but the rest of it is civilised. I remember having one of these for a week on long-term test (what on earth has happened?) and being pretty impressed.
It's lovely either way, IMO! I love garish and bright colours, especially on German cars. Makes a nice change from the usual bland white, grey and black for sure
