A pleasing segue into the world of caravans etc.

I am getting to an age where the notion appeals however I just can't pull the trigger on it. On the other hand, something like this would be a no-brainer:

I hesitated before posting this mini-barge but there is no prospect of me buying it. Somebody should, though. Colours and condition look lovely and the air con would be a welcome addition to an otherwise ultra spartan specification.

I keep looking at this every day. It's a stunning piece of design or am I weird? Do any of the eagle eyed 190 experts ( predominantly R129) see any issues on that car?
It looks great to me. The MOT history is not perfect, suggests it could do with new brake and fuel lines sooner or later, but show me a 25 year old car that couldn't. They are very complete cars, even in Sparta spec. That one has air con which makes it very usable. And the low power engine isn't an issue when it is so light.
It's Bought. I've just driven it 160 miles home. Amazed at how smooth and quiet the 1.8 is. I wasn't expecting that. It cruised at 70 down the M1. It's on its original dealer plates, still has the original blaupunkt and has a massive history file. Lovely condition apart from it needs some quality tyres - any recommendations? I use continentals on my 124.

They make a cool ambulance, which is what I assume this was. For the discerning casualty.
"For the discerning casualty" - if there was a board of quotes from this thread, that would be on it. Brilliant, thank you.

Excellent work, well done. Any overnight grainy petrol station shots?

Nice one! I have Conti Eco Contact 5s on mine. They were about £40 each, they've done a good 20k and there's plenty of life left in them. They're quiet and grippy.

I used to buy carpet from a Belgian company, and on a visit the owner and I started chatting about cars. He took me into one of his warehouses where one of these sat (more or less identical to the one in that pic) - €500k plus he told me. Said it's a bit of a nightmare actually going anywhere in it campsite wise as people are constantly wanting to look at/in it. Got the full tour, was epic inside. He bought it to tour with his disabled son which made a lot of sense.

Edit; found a pic

We put Bridgestones on the W126.
Made a big difference to the car and not too expensive.

Ha! No I managed to do it all without stopping. I was a little worried by the front tyres combined with the thunderstorms and rain I was driving through. I will post a picture later once I've given it a clean. Plans include 4 tyres, new wheel trims ( are these still available?) , service and a driver manual window winder in beige if I can find one ( the one in this car has been damaged at some point.)

I might have been looking at old race-trucks on eBay yesterday, although my use would be for carrying bikes and using as a family home from home. These appealed (de-stickered):

But this is more my budget:

190 wheel trims still available. I think window crank handle trims are too.

Fellow bargists, I wish to purchase another vehicle as it has been just over a month since my last purchase. The itch i wish to scratch is for a Mercedes, specifically, one of these

However I know very little about them other than they're known as the "TN" series, and they're very scarce to find. If anyone hears of one for sale or finds one do let me know! and if anyone knows more about them and would like to share some knowledge on them id be extremely grateful.

Good stuff. Despite my negative posting above, I still have a 190-shaped itch (have scratched it 5 times before), and this one does have something about it.

My dream find is a 2.6 Sportline with all the options ticked. Prefereably in unfaded signalrot; I've had most of the other more desirable colours. (Finders fee offered, chaps!)

They are an elegant design and I understand possess very high quality design and build. I don't know more than that. I've always hankered after the larger but equally elegant range which was ultimately styled Vario. A useful thing to possess, a van.

Well, just managed to creep in at the bottom end of the thread title with this old hector. The previous owner was called 'Eric', a fitting tribute to the expected market of this car!

Currently filthy on the inside, a new stereo will be required, and I'm hoping to fill it up once a month for a motorway commute.

You are a lucky man for this may be the only proper T1 for sale in the country...
A bit steep at 10k but as a Vario model it's a 2005 816 D. In excellent condition.
Strip out the mobile library in the back ( a couple of racks) and there you have it. Your very own T1.
