So I've been looking to move my s124 on and have made arrangements to ship it to the mainland to be listed with a specialist. Had a slight distraction:

Came across a localish ad with no pictures on Sunday. Sounded interesting so made contact. Viewed it and drove back the 100 miles home this morning.

3 owners, good spec, 94k on the clock, EVERYTHING done by mb main dealer from new.
Cracking purchase harry, sell one and purchase another! biggrin
...and just to be clear, that was in thread budget? Looks blinding...

I thinks it's a very thread car, hard to find a petrol one though, that's maybe why not a lot of examples are posted. They look terrific value. 2009 cars in thread budget!
Exactly, I don't know anyone who's had good experience with that 2.7 Diesel engine, be it in Citroen, jag or land rover. Bit of a money pit, I'd certainly buy a petrol one however!

Incredibly clean MOT history on this Double Six. Lovely colour but unfortunately he has used a potato to take the photographs!

"used a potato to take the photographs" made me laugh.

What are peoples thoughts on the Citroen C6. Worthy of the barge thread?
No-one keen?

I love them in principle but in practice they all seem to fall into silly VED except for the rare fout-pot diseasels. The latter in a big Cit I find less problematic than in some other barges, perhaps because a four-pot dag-dag is such a French tradition going back many decades, and also perhaps because big Cits have usually been deeply swoopy with advanced and eccentric suspension, but with surprisingly mundane engines.

I'm glad it still has the original wheels because those gash spokes really spoil it.

However, were I in the market for a Double Six, I'd be looking at this:

I had an extremely bad experience of it in an S-Type diesel. They also seem to munch up their torque converters and gearboxes more often than the petrols. Fuel economy was also very poor, I would have done no worse with a 3.0 petrol, probably because it was quite underpowered so I ended up giving it what for all the time.

One of the worst cars I've owned, and I've had some stinkers.

I'll wave from over here.

Our Disco3 has 220,000 miles on it, it's far from a money pit. The Mrs won't let me sell it.

That is lovely! Just need to make sure the dodgy electrics, dodgy brakes and dodgy emissions have been properly sorted! wobble

Since no one seems to want to do it, here's one that looks OK. There are no petrol options on the 'Trader currently. This looks to be in reasonable condition, has the important (for me) child-proof black leather, and hasn't been to the moon and back:

If you fancy negotiating, and like photos, this looks OK too:

Shame the boot isn't particularly dog-friendly, as it sort of rules it out for us...

Much love for the C6, the Exclusive is the one to have over the Lineage as well - better spec.

Was it on this thread that someone posted the Japanese one with the covered rear wheels and the different wheels? It looked fantastic.

edit for pic;

That does look fantastic. I wonder if through manipulation of the offsets or rear suspension those spats might be made completely flush.

Great wheels. They'd look good on lots of things.

C6 beardage - there are approx 6 3.0 HDIs that were imported into the country that are something like 223g/km and so under silly tax bracket.

As above its the engine that put me off too. I went for a 320 CDI W219 CLS too - more powerful and economical, and under the tax threshold.

Does indeed, but still a bit village. Completely flush would be magnificent.

I'm sure you could, but it'd likely mean a new set of wheels at £££.

Gorgeous though, imagine being able to buy that in a showroom!

RE: Engines, surely the V6+LPG is the ultimate combo or aural and wallet pleasure?

I reckon so. LPG is the future.

OK, maybe not the future, but it's dead good.

Petrol would be ideal but so rare on the ground. also command a significant premium so I think 2.7 is the only realistic option.
