Buffalo leather, though?

Anyway, his eBay listing contained a link to this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NO-RESERVE-1986-BMW-518I...

Now, doubtless, it isn't as good as it looks—how could it be?—and, obviously, it lacks two cylinders. It is unlikely that the leather accompanied the car out of the Dingolfing factory gates. But still... I nearly had one of these as my first wheels. They were about £1,000 back in 1993. I ended up with a 1983 E30 316 for £750 and it was a cracking car. A224 BFT.

I had a couple of 518i's when they were worth next to nothing. I can recall buying an A plate 528i (A891BGM) in Newbury in 1998 for £350 - Sapphire blue, glass moonroof, LSD, Sports seats and Bilsteins - plus the dogleg gearbox.

I like e28s, but there's no denying they have going up in value now when they used to be old bangers.

If you have a moment to spare, this is a good read: http://www.policecaruk.com/Restoration/Restoration...

A chap who finds and restores his old e28 528 police patrol car.

Didn't Derin (of blessed memory) warn against E28s as parts availability was a major problem?

I was there today. In one and the same breath he was abusing his apprentice son and complimenting Zoner's second 129. "fkin' stone mint underneath, like".
So if you look past the failing paint, the tired interior and shagged hood canvas it's a winner. This makes me pathetically happy. Was gingered and deflector'ed, because eBay, and now gets used on the nursery run (45 mile round trip over the Moors). No passenger airbag so it's good to go.

What are peoples thoughts on the Citroen C6. Worthy of the barge thread?
No-one keen?
I thinks it's a very thread car, hard to find a petrol one though, that's maybe why not a lot of examples are posted. They look terrific value. 2009 cars in thread budget!
I love them in principle but in practice they all seem to fall into silly VED except for the rare fout-pot diseasels. The latter in a big Cit I find less problematic than in some other barges, perhaps because a four-pot dag-dag is such a French tradition going back many decades, and also perhaps because big Cits have usually been deeply swoopy with advanced and eccentric suspension, but with surprisingly mundane engines.
It has to be said, £500+ tax is a massive thread turn off, however good the car.

I love the rear spoiler on the C6- never knew it had one until I saw it popped up on a parked one. Owner said it was broken so stayed like that...!

Very nice!

The 1 owner, low mile smoke silver '500 that was posted on here a week or two ago in budget has unsurprisingly reappeared after a valet and a wipe around the dizzy caps with an oily rag. Sadly now not in budget.

I post this only because the stripes are so bad they're good:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-Benz-w124-230CE...

I like that, but the fact the stripes don't run the full length of the car (front wing, ahead of the nearside front wheel) is setting my OCD off something chronic.

[eye twitch] Hmmm... [/eye twitch]
I am tempted to go for it for the hat and dice combo.
Am I the only one ignoring the stripes, and just wants to give it a very good T-Cut???

I'm glad it still has the original wheels because those gash spokes really spoil it.

However, were I in the market for a Double Six, I'd be looking at this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1985-DAIMLER-V12-DOUBLE-...

Pretty sure you could park that pretty much anywhere and find it un-molested in the morning, pure gangster, I love it.

It's clearly been in the hands of a wrong'un.

It got through the last MoT kicking and screaming but hasn't bothered with road tax since 2014. And no SORN.

There's a minter Double Six with a not-ridiculously-higher estimate at CCA on Saturday. Can't speak to the reliability of their grading scores but 117/135 is as high as I've ever seen.

I had to find a set of the transponders to turn the airbag off in my 129 for carseat duties. Funnily I had to go and pick up the modern from Merc after its service on Tuesday, wife in the back, 4 month old in the front and me driving. 129 looked like a relic on the forecourt when I pulled in compared to the sea of silver, black and white identical cars.

Yes.

(Although I might be trying unsuccessfully to save up for an R63 AMG.)

Aren't they in single figures in RHD production, ever?

I'm strangely drawn to this 'Werthers Original' W210 E430 . One owner for the past 12 years, good spec, bit of a sleeper with a V8 under the bonnet. The tinworn has started to bite, but am I naive to think you could nurse it through 2 more MOTs just paying for the petrol?

That's my advert wink

Lovely car - it genuinely is my Mums too - she has three greyhounds, getting her to part with that car has been really hard work.

A cool car for a mum! I bet a steam clean would see that interior come up really well.

I've already given it a go over with Meguires leather cleaner since I took those photos, it cleans up really well.

It was a Puttocks/Tony Purslow dealer car when it was new, run by their sales manager. A family friend of ours bought it at 3 months old as an ex-demo, and we bought it from him at 2.5 years old when he traded it in for a new one, so I've literally known it since it was almost new.

Just put the original plate back on (DS52 BHN), still had the old Tony Purslow branded plates in the garage.

Not mentioned in the advert, it has the 2 jump seats in the boot too, so it's a 7 seater.
