Great work on the Lexus and S211 purchases you two. Perfect examples for this thread.

By Jove that looks a fine vehicle and amazing value for money. I'd give you 5K right now sight unseen. Someone needs to buy my Trophy first though which I suppose would entail me marketing it biggrin.

edit to add:a friend of mine, a crazed steroid addled bodybuilder weighing over 20 stone said his CLS was the most comfortable vehicle he'd owned so I dread to think what your 'powerfully built' prospective buyer was like.

Edited by Motorrad on Saturday 30th September 16:48
I have a CLS. I'm 6ft 5 and 21 stone (very powerfully built, not fat) I don't have the seat at anywhere near its backstop so to say it didn't fit is a smokescreen for the real reason.

On the subject of the car, does anyone know a suspension specialist in the London or Surrey area as i'm sure mine isn't right.

It's not the air set up but the ride just feels far too harsh.
21 stone ? A mere slip of a lad.

The chap who came was conservately 30 plus stone, he struggled with the rake of the roof, he drives a 300c and manages but struggled to get in the CLS.

Smokescreen ? Are you really calling me out as a liar, I have been on here for ages, the car is pretty much spot on, come and see it before calling me a liar, which I take exception to.

I can we buy any car it for not much less That I am asking for it.

Steady on chap, he was referring to the buyer.

We manage to maintain a well-mannered thread here; let's try and keep it that way.

Apologies, been a long day and had a pint or several .

Had a scammer, a chaps who couldn't fit and one who decided it wasn't for him, it's spot on for the money.

Mine is the cheapest by a margin and been looked after.

The Lexus, the S211, the CLS 500, Oa's golden dream, there are some corking motors in the Thread today. I do like the Lexus. And Oa's gold one brown 124.

Lexus seems like a fine conveyance and excellent final barge purchase of volume 11.

See you on the flipside, ladies and gents.

Good luck with selling it, looks lovely and very well priced. Perfect fodder for this thread. Be keen myself but six cars is my limit, a third v8 would probably see me sleeping in one.

Well spotted! It's not as bad in real life but it will go.

Driving this really illustrates how good W124s are.

The 2.6 190 has similar miles, the ride isn't anywhere nearly as good. This 'goes down the road' so well.

Weirdly it doesn't feel anywhere near as pokey as the green 300E though - I've had that reading 140 on the clock with little effort, this one felt about done at 120 today. Suggestions welcome - it's just had the full ignition system done, dizzy cap and leads etc and starts instantly.

Makes me wonder if the green 300E isn't the special one - it has always felt miles faster than the 190 to me!

I agree with the comment about the drive. I've had mine up in Manchester all week and the drive there and back in it was the best of the 3 cars I've done that journey in over the past 3 weeks. They are excellently engineered.

The 4 door W124 weighs the least and is the stiffest as well smile

Agree completely re your ride quality observations. My 'new' 190 with a lot of suspension and steering related bills is nowhere near my old 124 for ride quality. The 124 is just in a different league for that and many other things too.

Probably going to look at this on Saturday. Am after a non silver or black 211 wagon. Ideally wanted sunroof, Harmon Kardon, air suspension and heated seats. This one has sunroof, wood and leather wheel and rear blinds. MB history til 2015.

Have had 2 previous 211's (straight 6 and V6 320's) but not had a petrol. Any issues??

Yet the 190 is worth vastly more...!

The w124 also handles far better, and gives a lot more confidence when pressing on, in my opinion. It's a bit un-merc like in this regard.

But if he spins his wheels and spreads the muck over a modern 4 pot Audi diesel on the way out, is that OK?
