The dash is horrific.

All the AWD stuff is a bit sad, BMW and the rest are slowly drifting (excuse the pun) away from RWD. I must say though that sounds and looks like a much better drift mode than Ford managed with the Focus. Starting with a FWD car and engineering drifting capabilities into it is totally daft.

Fantastic review by Shmee on the E63 S. Very interesting 4matic set up.

after looking at that video I've come to the conclusion that the huge dash screen just reminds me of american cars from the 00s and older where they basically cut half a bin and stick it on the dash. terrible. and it looks like a gloss finish on the screen as it's reflecting so much light. not very safe now is it? It doesn't even suit the rest of the garish interior!!

There seems to be a lot of hate for the new 4matic on this...

It is switchable ffs. To me it's a huge bonus making it Ideal for the UK imo

I can pretty much guarantee if the haters were given one over winter they would secretly be putting it in 4wd... yes it will undoubtably remove the edginess and maybe feed back etc out of the driving but it would give you so much more confidence. Even in trivial situations as pulling out of junctions on a busy road it would prove very handy.
If you don't like it don't use it... keep it in RWD
doesn't sound like there is much of a weight or cost penalty so why people are being negative to Merc for making the car much more appealing to a broader market.

I Feel BMW will loose a chunk of the market to this car now, unless of course they can continue giving a 20k discounts.....

As for the price I think it's very reasonable. It's got Bentley comfort and lambo performance....

Marvelous!
Just the thing to replace the GLA45 this.
But I don't really need the size of the E-class - is this platform going to be available in the C-class?

'Drifting' is juvenile nonsense. Quite why AMG provides such an option is unclear; why disable the safety of 4WD in such an overpowered car just to destroy your tyres?

Those who want to mess about in such a puerile manner should go and find themselves a secondhand Caterham Se7en.

Since when is fun stuff cheap? If you don't enjoy it enough to spend the money, leave it in 4WD mode and spend an extra £500 on cigars or shoes or whatever you enjoy more.

I'm very familiar with the cost of rear tyres as a result of exuberance, and personally I get more enjoyment out of the car than I do an extra ~£350 each year (I get my peasant width 255 PSS online, so they're not £250 a corner)

Also, it's probably a £90,000 car specced up, are people buying these things really going to st their pants over £500 every now and then?

why does killing tyres even have to cost you anything? just wait till you where going to change the rears anyway then pop it into rwd mode and leave a 5 mile burnout on the way to the fitters biggrin

Shockingly bad in fact, the interior is a mess as well, hello tacky chintz!

I have had 2 C63's (a 8 week old one and the previous model) and for me they are a nightmare in the wet. Just cant get the power down, I love the car but does not fill me with confidence on dark, wet or icy roads.

I will most certainly be looking to chop my C63 in for a E63-S 4-matic!

I have this (admittedly old) video where the earth is shown as flat, you'd like to draw your "conclusions" from that too?? rolleyesbanghead

Most reviewers rave about the dash - maybe it doesn't photograph well?

The interior is clear as day in Schmee's video, interior looks like a tacky nightclub.

All premium brands are going this way Carl (the dash).
