I'm not being funny but I have detected more aggressive behaviour since the Brexit vote, it's like if the angry have been vindicated. I am probably imagining it though !

I also thank everyone that lets me out etc...if I'm bombing down the outside lane and a car sees me and moves over I flash my hazards as well when I go past (I do like to make a little progress at times)
I'm not sure giving an emergency stop signal in the outside lane when you're making good progress is the best ideaSidewaysSi said:
But Brexit has brought out the tossers more than ever I think. Possible free movement and an influx of immigrants must be making them even more mad. Oh well.
I find it is usually some tool in a st heap with his family who gets more annoyed at very little than anyone else.
Im not even going to start of the lack of logic in those thoughts!!!I find it is usually some tool in a st heap with his family who gets more annoyed at very little than anyone else.

I wonder. It's not hard to picture the Venn diagram that describes the group of 'Leave Voters' and the group of 'I Know My Rights', somehow...IroningMan said:
Imagine how the driver in the OP might react to a perceived slight by a cyclist...
I spend a lot of time behind the wheel - 30k miles a year and sometimes more - and seem to have mostly got the hang of the Zen approach: today you had a in your life; never mind - they have a in their life every day. Move on and NEVER engage with another road user except to make space for them, express thanks or apologise.
'Twas not always so and I used to get very antsy about other peoples' driving, but I have learned to care and not to care, as Eliot might have said.
Yes, I've been trying to be more like this, and am getting the hang of it. It does help. Though I tend to slip if I've had a bad day or got out of bed the wrong side. I am much less stressed as a result.I spend a lot of time behind the wheel - 30k miles a year and sometimes more - and seem to have mostly got the hang of the Zen approach: today you had a in your life; never mind - they have a in their life every day. I think the problem is there are an increasing number of drivers who drive like a cock on purpose, the IDGAF attitude, the rules don't apply to me.
So when somebody does make a genuine mistake a lot of drivers just assume it's yet another cock.

You sometimes end up behind drivers that at every junction just seem to pull out when it's not safe, either due to lack of speed perception, observation or just the IDGAF attitude!
Generally I'd say driving standards are declining and the number of vehicles is increasing, these two combined is why we are seeing more and more road rage incidents!

If you put your hand up and apologised to him then I can't see the issue, if you didn't then I can understand why he might be upset.
I did a similar thing last year, blind spot and my error, I just apologised and made sure he could see me saying sorry with my hand up...that calmed him down.
This. And if a waved apology doesn't calm things, blow him a kiss. I did a similar thing last year, blind spot and my error, I just apologised and made sure he could see me saying sorry with my hand up...that calmed him down.
A chap I know has two placards for urban use at modest speeds - not motorways for sure - both are small enough to be mounted on bamboo and stashed one each down the sides of the two front seats.
One has "SORRY" on it and the other says "THANK YOU". At suitable moments they get lofted through the sun roof and given a gentle wave.
He does a lot of driving in London and claims that his unexpected approach has defused every situation where another driver was seeing red.
The above isn't a recommendation, it may contravene regs around having full control of a vehicle. Funny all the same.
Doesn't surprise me. I'll preface this by saying that I'm the calm type in that I don't see red and do daft st but even my own standards the one thing that boils my piss more than anything else is when the person who's just cut you up or does whatever daft or dangerous thing they've done can't even be arsed to stick a hand up to apologise.
Perhaps I'm making one too many assumptions thinking they even know they've fked up but a lot of the time I'm sure they do, it's just some weird thing where people are too proud or pig st ignorant to simply acknowledge a mistake.

There aren't enough roads for the cars.

Had this this very afternoon. On a traffic light controlled roundabout in the lane marked as straight ahead when a guy pulls up alongside on my left. As the lights go green he pulls off and immediately dives across the front of me go to the next exit to the right. I anchor up sharply and press the horn, he looks out of his window, gives me the coffee beans and mouths 'fk off'.
Err, what? You're in the wrong lane, nearly take the front of my car off with a stupid move (incidentally there was nothing behind me so he could easily have just waited and crossed the lanes behind me) and yet apparently I'm to blame? Still fit any consolation he was driving a Kia Carens which he'll have to suffer every time he steps out his front door.

On about 4 occasions in the last 10 years Ive actually had to get out of my vehicle and deal with people!!!! 1/ Calm down its only driving and 2/ If you possess no fight skills at all don't pick a fight.

I don't get particularly irate at people just making mistakes. What boils my piss a bit is people who are clearly barely able to drive, have no confidence, and end up endangering everyone around them - just take the bus FFS. School run mums and very old people seem to be the worst round here.... oh, and ladies in ridiculously size 4x4s or people carries but no spatial awareness.
If someone forgets to check their blindspot and then apologises.... no problem. Everyone will do it some time.
But, as someone already said. I'll swear to myself in the car sometimes, but can't see why anyone would risk bothering to do anything more. No matter how hard you think you are, there are some real psychos out there. You aren't so hard when they run you over in a Vauxhall Zafira.... I ain't going out like that.... the shame of dying by Vauxhall.
