This mk1 Escort hasn't moved since at least the mid 1980s. Numerous people have knocked on the house door with offers to buy it but the owner is having none of it. Last time I saw it it was in terrible condition and would probably fall apart if moved. With the value of old Escorts though I'm pretty sure it could be restored.

As soon as I saw this thread I thought of that Escort! There's also a E-type shell as well here it is on street view in July 2008

He must be crazy.
But then, I've had an E39 on my drive for 8 years now. And it's broken and covered in moss.

Just remembered this lot, which resided locally until five or six years ago,

An Audi, VW Passat (?), BMW 2500 (BDD 488K) and a Commer (PEC 437L)

Don't seem to be able to find any Tax information for the two with legible numberplates, and the house & drive was cleared some years ago. One can only assume all were scrapped frown

What a shame. I would of thought the 1972 Beemer could be restored?

Follow the progression (regression?) over the three pictures. I'm pretty sure it's been there unmoved since the late 90s. I can't remember the first time I saw it.

I haven't been past to check recently but it was still there a while ago.

2 Citroens, been there for years, don't think they've been moved at all. One of them was full of boxes and random stuff:

A DS and an SM.. That is criminal
Not to mention this.

You amateurs... You're missing his other DS.

The SM gets moved occasionally, the 2 DS' and the BX seem to be in constant use.
The DS estate is often full of gardening equipment, I especially love it when it has the wheelbarrow strapped to the roof.

Here's the other DS to complete the set.

I thought it was cunningsburgh not sure if this is the same "town" blink and you will miss it.

Definitely Cunningsburgh, my advice don't even dream about it, I lived there 3 years ago and it was there then. Shetland cars are drenched in salt all year round and it's not unheard for 5 year old cars to fail MOTs on rust. It'll likely be totally rotten underneath, even more so the van.

The 8 series was an 840i I believe

I didn't really believe you first until I just checked Toyota Shetland's used car online showroom...
There's a Vauxhall Corsa Club CDTi for sale, entered the reg no (KS08 KFW) in to the checker..
"Engine sump rusty"
"Rear subframes corroded"
"Inner brakes rusty"

And
Pits, is that BMW in Shetland? I've passed it a few times on the road up from Sumburgh.
Think it's gone now though but looked in decent nick.

Edit:just read the rest of the thread and it is indeed the same car.
I'm sure it's gone as of the last 6 weeks as I didn't notice when I was last over there.

There's a rotten XJS at the bottom of Lewis, just before you get to Harris, I'll try and find a link.

Last I knew it was still there 6 months ago, I'll ask someone to go past and have a look see.

They generally don't fall to pieces to be fair, they can have their issues but they are well built cars

Don't these belong to a guy with a moustache and cigar who drives them like a loony? I seem to remember someone posting a few years ago about seeing him regularly.

This Rover 75 has been decaying outside this cottage in Whalley for a few years.

Abandoned Rover by

You can see in the 2009 Streetview image it looks tidy enough but seems to have gradually decayed in the same spot over the years.

Probably another case of someone elderly and unable to drive but keeping their car just in case they get back on the road again, even though the car is beyond use now.

This Peugeot hasn't moved from outside this house in Blackburn for as long as I can remember.

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.7391884,-2.49824...

The house came up for sale a few months ago but there were no inside images. I don't know if maybe the owner of everything died years ago and nothing has been touched while all sorts of legal business went on to see who had a right to it.

Do you live on the Shetland islands or just visit?
worked there for 3 years. Used to fly home from an airport called Scatsa unless the weather was bad, this is when i would see the car when we were being shuttled across the island to Sumburgh.
