Packed up and ready to go !

Thank you !
Thank you, email received also.
All arrived thank you; packaging a bit battered by RM, and ensconced in their apology envelope , but they look to have survived their ordeal.
I'll keep them back for some Christmas red wine and log burner reading time.

Postage certainly isn't cheap these days. I bought a (reprint) copy of Janes' All The World's Aircraft 1939 -45 in a Charity Bookshop for £1.20, for a friend who lives in Sweden. The Post Office wanted around £76 postage as it weighed over 2kg. I pointed out that I could actually get a return flight with Easyjet for less than that.

All down to weight I agree
Up to 1Kg is bad enough
Sadly a twin pack is 34 grams over the 1kg

I'd packed it rather carefully so I bought the largest padded envelope they had, took it home, ditched the chunky cardboard protection, and stuck in as much bubble wrap as I could fit in, and got it under 2kg (just!), which made a huge difference to the cost. smile

Revival 2012 was a Ferrari GTO-fest !
Here is the JCB car normally driven by Alain de Cadenet ( RIP 2022)

If you have my first book you will have read Dad & I turned down the opportunity to buy one in 1971 for £6250
A mistake
These cars, of which only 36 made, sell now for around the £50 million mark.

I assume £6,250 was still a fair amount of money back then?

Yes, my first house cost £3500 in 1971 so £6250 has to be looked at in perspective

This is the most expensive GTO sold as far as I know and I am a GTO nerd

'....Earlier in June, German race car driver Christian Gläsel sold his 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO, chassis 4153, for at least $70 million in a private sale to David MacNeil, founder of the car floor mats maker WeatherTech...'

I had the pleasure of meeting his daughter, Devon, at Hampton Court Concours in September
Not slumming it as you would expect....she had her European based Miura SV with her.
Another resides in the US !

Above ....Devon McNeil looking a bit sad !
