Albeit a faster one.
I'm always attracted to these. I love the Juke RS too. Wouldn't be caught dead owning the standard versions of either.

210?

Doubt it. By the time it reaches production it'll be 100-120bhp.

This was my thinking... 210hp is more than a toyobaru!

They did a supercharged Corolla with 215bhp. I don't see why this wouldn't be 210bhp.

From what I've heard it wasn't particularly good though?

210bhp seems very generous for a Yaris, I hope it does well for them. Odd that they haven't put that sort of power in a GT86 yet though.

True enough.

But if they want to compete that's what it will need these days.

No idea - never driven one. I was merely pointing out they've made a similarly sized car with this power before.

6 seconds though for the benchmark sprint. not bad from a modern 1.5 litre (its not getting the rally spec 1.6)

only a second or so behind the 300bhp 4wd monsters.

id like to see an Abarth 500 with 4wd and 250bhp to make the big boys weep as they seem so hooked up on their "launches" these days. doubt itll see the light of day but would be a laugh. small and fast for the grin.

i'm all for the likes of Twingo RS VW Up GT 500 abarths etc......

Very excited by this, can't beat tiny hot hatches imho. Just hope it's not too pricey, they offer it with a manual and most of all it sounds good inside as this is my main criticism of the FiST.

Well its ugly, but I like the formula of very compact with decent power and I bet it would be lots of fun.

Saw on Facebook earlier what appeared to be an official source (Toyota UK) confirming 210 bhp from a 1.8

Have they strapped a turbo onto the Avensis 1.8VVT-I engine perhaps, taking it from 147 to 210bhp?

Read back through it again and can't see the post that said 1.8 although they said it'll be more than 210 but not how much more.

The big thing is weight though. I have a 1.4T with 180bhp a 0-60 of 6.7 and a car that weighs a ton. The engine is good for over 250bhp chuck in 4wd and you're going to add a lot of weight.

I'm surprised that Toyota are going for a 1.8 engine but it's something that I'm looking forward to seeing.

3 door as well, a dying breed.
Plenty of hatches available as three doors - the Focus and Civic have bit the dust but there's still a good deal of choice.
Even the Clio has gone now.

What do we have:

Abarth 595
Suzuki swift sport
208 GTi
Fiesta ST
Mini JCW

I must have missed some?
I'm sure the next Fiesta ST and (possibly) the Swift may be 5-door only in their next model.

Don't the Golf,Polo,Astra & Corsa all come in 3door? I'm sure theres more too. Still plenty of choice if thats what floats some peoples boats.

Sounds about right, chuck the Corsa VXR and Polo GTI onto that list and I'm all out of ideas tbh, there is the Audi S1 but it's eleven billion pounds. Plus a good few more if you go a size up - Golf R, Golf GTI, Astra VXR, Kia Cee'd GT, Leon FR, Audi S3 etc etc

I like the sound of this. 210 Bhp sounds ok as long as the weight is kept down.
