They may be outsourced, but by no means off the shelf!

Did I say I in any way disapproved of that? You need to wind your neck in a bit and think about what you're saying. It's clear that you have close ties with Ariel and that's just fine with me, and probably others on here. And your input is valued!

McLaren are probably the biggest profile assembler I can think of. But the mainstream manufacturers do indeed build their own cars. Electrical systems and control systems may be outsourced, but engines and platforms are not.
But what about Nissan and Renault, just as one example? It's probably correct to say that no car manufacturer has always exclusively used their own engines.

Sorry if I came across strongly btw.

Nissan and Renault have that Alliance gig. Sharing engines...we have a Micra diesel with a Renault engine for example. Saab and PSA shared platforms too some years ago. My Mazda 323 had Ford bits on it.

Engines are always going to be swapped about - the costs involved in developing a new unit are prohibitive.

Even the mighty BMW used PSA engines in the Mini.

Back from the ashes - hopefully good news for the employees (although doesn't necessarily sound like it is) and the cars look set to continue production:

Ah-ha, Alan Lubinsky. A, err, colourful character. Some light reading:

2017: https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/officers/B7fr8p... suggests he claims to live in Israel

Despite all of this, I do hope there will be some good news in the end.

Interesting reading. It doesn't fill me with confidence.

Does seem to be more of a biznizman than a businessman. I guess you can expect an asset stripping under the guise of blaming the Govt for not giving any money.

I wish the boys and girls at Zenos well. However, it's very easy to be afraid of a Saab-type scenario with some of the media reports that are circulating.
