Surprised we haven't seen detailed diagrams dissecting the Morgan/Peugeot crash. You know the types with potential trajectory lines, angle measurements, thinking distances, braking distances, etc.

Dude, please stop cutting and pasting the titles from youtube. It's extremely annoying. Tell us why *you* think the link merits our attention...

Cheers!

People complain when I posted links with no titles, now being told told not to copy and paste titles from the original uploader. rolleyes

Just can't win on PH...biggrin

Would a prologue suffice? Any number of characters you'd like me to adhere to?

I'll continue to copy and paste the titles - feel free to message the YT uploader asking them why their video merits your attention before you click play.

imdeman has uploaded the better videos of late, and I really quite like the brief titles. We don't need any further opinions (these will inevitably be aired by the argumentative few on here).

OEM spec Pug brakes are very good......but who knows what is fitted or how old/poorly maintained they are.
have you driven a 1.1 206? they are usually 247mm solid discs, they are by far the stest brakes I've ever seen on a car, I thought they were bad on a lighter 106, a heavier 206 is worse!

how many times do people practice emergency stops? driving test and thats probably it, i'd be surprised if that 206 had ABS.

Would the Peugeot driver, or any other driver in the situation of that 206 Vs Morgan accident have had the foresight to notice the Morgan there in the middle of the junction and give a precautionary 'I am here' blast of the horn?

Yes I have, I did not regard them as you do, but I am a driving god so in the 2 seconds he had I would of double spun round him and carried on without using the brakes.

ABS was an option on the lower level cars I think.

What average car do you know who could stop in that distance, assuming he isn't doing 10 mph of course, and time apart from none.

It has been explained in so many posts.
Didn't need to stop, just match the speed of the Morgan.

To me, it looks like the Pug driver wasn't anywhere near hard enough on the brakes.

Although, if the trend towards buying 'Triangle' (or similar) tyres has carried over to other components, you may find that the Pug was running those Chinese Brembo 'copy' pads which are rife on eBay. They may marginally pass the MOT, but will be utterly useless in emergency situations.

  • waits for everyone to chip in how the DCW should've anticipated a random emergency stop/didn't leave enough of a gap/didn't get on the brakes hard enough/could've made an F1-style overtake swerve around her...

what the F? Interested to see more info on that one if there's no mechanical issue there that driver doesn't belong on the road, or even in gen pop.

in the comments on YT.

'Update from uploader: she got frightened by a loss of power (she left the car in 6th gear and in a variable speed zone the engine laboured) He is fine but they are a state it's his fault at the moment, he is fighting it though'

the problem is they always say leave enough time to stop. I think the light issue made it hard to see the brakes, but very unfortunate.

We shall never know, for all we know the pug could have been doing 90, with or without Brembo pads, he ain't going to stop. No manouevour should cause anyone to slow down or stop I think, Morgan driver did.

At the end of the day, the Morgan pulled out in the path of an oncoming vehicle at speed. Why, we don't know and never will. With about three seconds between the Morgan pulling and out the pug hitting it, don't think Chinese pads enter into the equation. Morgan driver got it wrong.

Good work by that lad, takes balls to confront someone like that. All too many people are happy to stand back and let things unfold in front of them.
