Oh, and the Morgan video. Was anyone honestly, hand on heart, suggesting it was anything other than 100% the Morgan driver's fault? I hope to never meet anyone so stupid.

I assume you haven't watched the clip. Somebody pulled out right in front of the Peugeot driver from a side road when he was travelling at high speed. The Peugeot should not have been put in that position and, in the circumstances, it is clear that he did all that could reasonably be expected. You can see his brakes are on from as soon as he enters the frame.

The Peugeot driver is utterly blameless and innocent. There absolutely is no basis for suggesting that any averagely competent driver should have been expected to do anything different whatsoever.

To be honest, I'm only posting it in the hope we can talk about something other than that bloody Morgan 206 clip

Too many precious individuals around.
Two observations:
1) the merge point is right at the end.
2) Sign 'Merge in turn'

Cam car at fault.
+1

I believe the majority of drivers in the UK fail to grasp the concept of merge in turn.

Opening shot is in Aberdeen, drivers are often chopping lanes there.

It's different in the US where big intersections are common, when you are turning you stay in the outside lane to build up speed and likewise 'committed' traffic stays in lane 1. Because it's a normal manoeuvre people expect it.

Here, doesn't work. I don't trust any fker on those kind of DC junctions.

The second clip at 0:30 is the A322 from the M3 J3 into Bracknell and it is a completely unconventional road layout which causes confusion. Traffic coming from the right has to cross a live lane and then finds itself in lane 2 on the dual carriageway hence this Jazz driver getting confused and moving to lane 1 into the path of rapidly approaching traffic. To make matters worse drivers approach in lane 2 and jink left at speed to circumvent the layout. I hate it.

It seems that Aberdeen Dashcam so hates people speeding he's prepared to exceed the limit he's policing to keep up with the BMW driver who's overtaken him so he can tell him off.

Looking at the comments, he appears to be posting as Mrprogrammingexpert1 and says he lost control of his car accidently while calling the BMW driver names and that's why he veered towards him as he overtook.

I had to bite on comments section. The cyclist needs a bit of a reality check if he thinks that was close.
Basket + Union Jack + cycling miles out of his way to remonstrate over a very minor if anything at all infringement = Nutter

He has never had a proper punishment/fast/close path if that sets him off, I had a Skoda Fabia VRS and Audi A5 racing that passed me at maybe 80, very close as there was a car coming the other way, if they had been in traffic further on I would have reacted very badly with them, not sure what I would have done but never felt that scared in years of cycling, pair of twunts, litterally centimetres at high speed, too fast, too committed, had I been cycling further out I would have been hit, I have a small bar end mirror, saw and heard them coming and got in as far as I could, and no, I dont have a basket.
Quite right on the analysis. Unfortunately had a few at speed, committed and out of control passes over the years. You hear the high revs/sense excess speed and do you try to take a more central position in order get some driver awareness or cycle onto the verge to get the f out if the way.

Anyway, I seem to have touched a nerve. Oh well. Best leave him to it. I did try to explain the point of the primary position but seem to have failed.

Exactly this.

I think the key to avoiding this situation for each party is:
  • for the camera car, to give in; and
  • for the Audi, just to push in more assertively.
The trick is to make it very clear that that you are moving over and they will have to physically ram you prevent it. hehe
Of course, this depends on whether the camera car driver is not a psycho and which party looks like they care about their car the most!
Oh come on, they were both wkers.

SkodaVRSCam, if you're on here you're a weapons grade dash cam wker.

70+ in a NSL and behind the ambulance at 80, and then sitting at 50 in lane three of a motorway just to get some road rage footage. Prick.

Morgan = the problem
Agreed but the peugeout was the solution but was not used. Have you ever seen a 206 under hard braking the arse sits waaay up in the air and the nose sits reall low its very obvious. The pug displayed no signs of hard braking nor did it take any reasonable action to avoid the action such as swerving right onto the hatchings.

I would go so far as to suggest the 206 may even have had a dashcam and decided to crash as they had the right of way as cammers seem want to do.
According to the AA http://www.theaa.com/staticdocs/pdf/carreports/AA_...

At 50mph (the speed limit of the road) on a dry road a good to average stop is 26 metres. Of course based on a well maintained car.

Quite clearly the Morgan driver is at fault but the pug seems to be travelling at quite a speed at impact, could the Morgan driver been caught out by checking seeing a car further away, calculating it's a 50mph road so plenty of time and pulled out?
