I remember when this thread had clips of bad driving posted in it. I think there's been about 3 posted in the last 3 pages!
Here's a really 'dangerous overtake'. This bloke has some real corkers of videos that he's uploaded....

Of course the thread title says nothing about avoiding discussion Here's a really 'dangerous overtake'. This bloke has some real corkers of videos that he's uploaded....

I'm just waiting for the Powerpoint slideshow, we've had everything else.
I'm very confused by the supposedly experienced drivers on here, who don't seem to think it sensible to allow for others st driving.
Yes everyone should get it right all the time - but they don't. By taking into account the high risk areas, and hanging back you can reduce the risk of a collision - whether it's your fault or not. Usually, it does not even slow you down.

If the guy had held back while the police car changed to the near side lane, he could have booted it out of the roundabout into the outside lane, past the police car and off into the distance before anyone had noticedYes everyone should get it right all the time - but they don't. Where's the video in that though?
Or does that come later.........

Just where do you draw the line ? If a driver is indicating right, has moved over and is in the right hand lane do you hang back expecting them to turn left ?Yes everyone should get it right all the time - but they don't. If there is no trust and a reasonable assumption then we would never get from A2B

A while back it was part of the Highway code that to go straight on (or right) at a roundabout you approach it signalling right ( as youre not going to take the first left) then signal left just before the exit youre going to take.I can see the police car did the indicating right, I cant see if it did the indicating left.
However Ive seen that manoeuvre on exit to so many roundabouts I'm used to it, so wait for it. Doesn't mean it's correct, but neither does it mean it's worth getting shirty about.
As I said before I guess the police car had assumed the cam car had gone left or was holding back, but assume nothing!

Rather than hitting the horn, the cam car should have just eased up a bit.
As we have learned recently a generous proportion of PH members find it physically and mentally impossible to brake and use the horn simultaneously (and let us ignore the fact that the OP used the horn quite a long time after braking). The Spruce goose said:

Are you saying you have never been cut up/had to brake at a two lane roundabout even when the lane 2 driver is/has indicated right ?
You are a rare breed indeed if you have not

yes i get cut up, but because i have left a few meters back it doesn't effect me. i was always taught defensive driving, it is maybe a few seconds slower but saves months of hassle when i would have crashed into someone to prove a point. You are a rare breed indeed if you have not

I remind you I admitted that I (even with the lane2 drivers indication, lane choice/move) assumed to much.
I posted as an example that even when all actions point to a drivers intent, exactly the opposite can happen.
