"Rose has arthritis of the knees and back, reduced mobility because of a leg injury, and problems with her sight and hearing"Got to wonder on that basis if she should be driving at all, though hopefully she never gets back on the road.

Whilst some of those are actual bad driving by the car in front, I shake my head waaaay more at the driving, reaction and attitudes of the cam car drivers. Those guys really need to calm the hell down, realise that other people make mistakes and, gawd forbid, read the damn road ahead! So many mountains out of so many molehills. The compilation clips qualify for this thread as the cammers themselves are the ones exhibiting the sh*t driving.

I'm at a loss as to how she didn't end up with a suspended jail sentence.

"He handed her eight months in prison, suspended for two years, with 12 months’ supervision and a 10-day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement. The judge banned her from the road for three years and said she must take an extended retest before ever driving again."
And don't worry, sounds like she'll never pass the retest.

You can tell Butterface is from Cornwall & C.A.R isn't.
It's the attitude of many visitors which makes such places hell for locals to visit, whether it's work related or not. Whilst Cornwall appreciates the business, it's nice when the County reverts to normal without the arrogance of many visitors, the hesitant bad driving not to mention the subtly increased prices we see for 2 months.
Deliveries outside of certain times has been suggested but travelling around the county any distance in the summer months takes 2 or 3 times longer and varies according to weather & where tourists are heading.
Just listen to Radio 2 on a Friday evening to hear who's calling in & where they are heading and what roads they are stuck on - OK it's only 1 or 2 weeks for them, it 2-3 months for us.
You could discuss this in its own topic I guess, but you're absolutely right that I'm a visitor to Cornwall rather than a resident. I can agree with the sentiment that getting around must be a nightmare for locals during holiday season, but it's part and parcel of living there surely? Unless you're a fisherman or farmer, without the tourist industry there would be far less business down there, its impractical to get around further west from Plymouth even without the added traffic of holidaymakers.
I was speaking to a small shop owner in Mevagissey two years ago and they were upping sticks and moving on - a delivery HGV taking the shop window out for the third time was the last straw. Whilst these roads are signposted, idiots will be idiots!
I'm going to guess that a poorly maintained caravan had a bearing seize and stopped. In this era of 'smart' motorways and no hard shoulders.

I've played GT on the Playstation while mildly drunk (2 or 3 pints, I'm a cheap date!) before now and that fact that it goes very much like that - simply not caring, and/or not being able to react properly/at all, when you run wide, hit other cars or bounce off the armco - is a major part of why I'll never drink and drive.defblade said:

Alcohol affects us all differently, some of us need more to get pissed, some of us need less and judging by her photo she was a small skinny woman so I would imagine she wouldn't need to drink much to be over. Maybe she knecked a couple of drinks and drove off without it first affecting her. Can a single large glass of wine put someone nearly twice over the limit.
Just curious as to what exactly "nearly twice over the limit" actually is.

"Highways England tweeted at 6.17pm that the motorway near Mansfield had been shut because of a collision between a caravan and a lorry which left debris on the road."

I am a DCW. In my defence I left the guy loads of room but he decided to slow right down, timing his manoeuvre to coincide with my passing almost perfectly.

You should have read what was coming in plenty of time and moved to the middle lane. A near miss for absolutely no reason.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JT6_VVfvmmc&fe...
You didn't read it at the time and obviously can't see the obvious in the video either. That's even more concerning.

Following on from the incident discussed some weeks ago and a wider discussion as to whether or not this stretch of the northbound A3 is one to be treated with caution here's a topical link tthat was all across national BBC News this morning. Ignore the angle of the magazine article, the point being the stretch and the junction are very busy, frequently congested and statistically extremely accident riddled.
