The thing is, and I know its not right but look at the queue of traffic waiting to get out, obviously a busy main road and there is traffic turning right into the side road as well. As everyone nowadays is just interested in themselves I would imagine if you never push your way out of that road you would never get out. https://youtu.be/dQuoRXa0EEQ
Its similar for me leaving my side road in the morning, the traffic crawls past in one direction but I want to go in the other but hardly anyone lets me out even though I sit there patiently indicating, mostly they come to a complete stop and block me in. So nowadays I sit there, count to 30 seconds and if nobody lets me out I just go, get plenty of beeps and shouting but I haven't got all day.

Now it's a merge and it seems people using the left lane still treat it as if those using the right are jumping the queue. They aren't but whatever.
I tend to use the left lane and be a couple of minutes slower because I can't be arsed with road warriors stopping you merging.
