There's a similar gang in Glasgow. Not sure they've done much recently but it's unbelievable.

To know where the woman in the video was right or wrong to do what she did you would need a view backwards.
No you wouldn't, I drive through there every day, it's a very well signposted merge in turn:

You can see the BMW ahead has let someone in, but she has refused, thus not merging in turn.
Why is the sign yellow?

It's bonkers how people act at merge in turn points.

I encountered a classic example of why these merge lanes exist today whilst getting on the M53 at junction 9 to head towards Chester.

The red line denotes all of the traffic queuing in single file to go into Ellesmere Port. The green line denotes a completely empty merge lane.

All of the traffic in the red dotted part of the lane would have easily fit in the lane denoted by the green line - and had the traffic used both lanes correctly - the motorway roundabout would have remained clear and free flowing. As it stands the queue ended up blocking two exits on the roundabout - for no other reason than 'merging in turn is often seen as queue jumping' rolleyes

Sorry, if and when the green lane backup up how does it not block the ability to circumnavigate the road to the other exits ?

It would eventually - but the point is, if both lanes were used - it would take a lot more traffic before the queue over spills onto the roundabout.

I think the wording "Zip Merge" makes more sense than "Merge in turn" because some drivers (incl. me!) think of "turn" as a turn in the road.
FFS and you've got a driving licence???

Classic example of what's wrong with drivers in the UK...lack of common sense or lack or intelligence... take your pick...
Bit harsh, go see how a zip works...

The phrase on the sign is "in turn" though, which is a pretty widely accepted phrase and which is synonymous with "one after the other, one by one, one at a time, in succession, successively, sequentially, consecutively, in order"

The diagram is very true to life as well, with the merging cars shown nipping forward at the last second to get in front of the cars they should obviously be slotting in behind.

Looks like something from the early 1990's in the West end of Newcastle.

My instructor used to say don't overtake unless you've got somewhere to overtake to.

If the left lane is solid traffic for it's entire length then you don't have anywhere to go, and are relying on "pushing in".
I think your not applying that saying to the circumstance he meant it to...I think it's more of a pointer to plan your overtakes ahead..

It was indicating left after the crash, wondering if he had left it on, and confused the other driver who thought he was turning left, no excuse though.

Very possibly a sat-nav or phone (or both) bunged on the windscreen next to the A-pillar and causing a huge blind spot.

I can't believe the number of cars I see with massive obstructions within the area swept by the windscreen wipers.

Leaving aside the legality of this practice, how thick do these people have to be not to realise that their forward visibility is severely restricted...!

Hand most likely knocked the indicator arm during the impact
