Didn't hang around to help him sort his leg out and pick the bike up though!
Forgive my ignorance, I didn't know it would be possible to ride a bike with one leg. Would it be adapted to have the gear selector on the other side?

I thought that too, he rides towards the bus with it's indicator on for a full 10seconds what did he think was going to happen? the car driver certainly could see it coming.

I wish I had a dash cam to capture today’s idiocy: mum and dad teaching their toddler to walk....whilst crossing at traffic lights. Little Johnny is not very good yet, so they felt the need to very slowly ease him across the road, one on each hand, while the lights were red.
Then flashing orange, then green....

....and still Johnny stumbled and bumbled on, as mum and dad smiled and giggled at his amusingly glaciar-like pace....... mum even smiled across at me, sharing her parental glow...

Darwin Award material, if ever I saw it!

Yes, but indicating does not give you right of way, only your intentions. Wonder if the bike had a front light, either way the bus driver did t see it, or was bring a tt.

The clip that starts at 9:48 - anyone got any idea why that Micra suddenly lost it? It wanted to get in front of the coach before the junction.

Moaning about that Audi "undertaking" him yet the bobby slowed down in the middle lane!!
This video shows nothing, just the police's opinion. What's hogging really all about? Sometimes it's legit to be in the middle lane, but some impatient drivers don't look any further than the car in front of them.

Yes, and the rear brake would have to be changed to a thumb brake, typically on the left bar under the clutch. And it depends on which leg is lost, as you'd need to move the gear selector to the right if it was the left leg or get a button shifter.

Looks like he has broken the knee strap that holds the leg on hence it comming off when he tries to walk away.

I have been riding motorbikes for 31 years with a false leg.

By punishing them, some poor very ill people won’t get the organs they need. Sometimes it’s best to let Darwin’s theories take their natural course.

Nb. To save squabbling the above statement is partially tongue in cheek

I think bikers should really have stabilizers for a few years, so many road warriors haven't got a clue.

I'm not saying it's something i want, but in today's H&S obsessed culture I'm always amazed there aren't tighter regulations surrounding motorbikes

Really!

The hoops a 19 to 23 year old would have to sume through.

1What kind of vehicle do you want to drive?
Motorbike (categories A1, A2 and A)

2How old are you?
19 to 23

You can apply for a provisional licence for either a category A1 small motorbike or a category A2 medium-sized motorbike

You’ll then need to compete compulsory basic training (CBT) and take the theory and practical tests for the kind of motorbike you want to ride within 2 years.
Existing licence holders

If you’ve already got a motorbike licence you can ride the category of motorbike you’ve got on your licence.

If you want to ride larger motorbikes you need to follow the rules below.
Riding larger motorbikes

If you want to ride larger bikes (category A) you’ve got 2 options.
Direct access

You can wait until you’re 24 then take the theory and practical tests for that type of bike.
Progressive access

First get a full licence for a category A2 medium-sized motorbike.

Once you’ve had 2 years’ experience on this licence you can take the practical test for a category A large motorbike.
Motorbike categories
Category A1 small motorbikes

These are motorbikes not exceeding: - 125cc engine size - 11kW power output - 0.1kW/kg power to weight ratio
Category A2 medium-sized motorbikes

These are motorbikes, with or without a sidecar not exceeding:

35kW power output
0.2kW/kg power to weight ratio

Category A2 motorbikes can’t be derived from a vehicle of more than double its power.
Category A large motorbikes

These are bikes unlimited in size and power, with or without a sidecar.
