If my car was done by the show I'd be chuffed. Only people on the internet seem able to moan about getting a scrap car restored for free. I'd be bloody happy with it myself.

Yeah, even a poor restoration would be far better than having a lump of rusting metal and a pile of parts in some damp garage that is unlikely ever to get touched, especially for free.

Just read through this post but the one bit of info that seems to be missing is HOW DO THEY FUND IT???

Surely it cannot be just from tv advertising during the shows airing time??? does Channel 4 pay for it??? and it must be doing ok as Fuzz and some guy I have not heard of before Tassel? have now gone into business together and leased new premises in Oldbury and London

Does anyone know???

Fuzz served his apprenticeship working on 10 litre rear-engined Daimlers, so I would think that he knows waht he is doing with the Car SOS subjects wink

On another note I watched Superchargers for the first time today (in the company of 7 year old grandson smile ) It beggars belief. They took a scruffy original Previa and by the time the programme ended it looked as if it had been attacked by vandals and covered in graffiti frown I don't think it's just an age thing though, he has introduced me to Harry's Garage on Youtube so there is still some hope

You forgot the syndication revenue. The show will be being sold to more than one channel. Plus repeat fees.

Some interesting replies, forgot about syndication rights although if it is a 50K budget per episode is that just for the cars or for just for one show? If its just on the car would be cool to say I have got a 50K Anglia parked outside!!!!

don't know the show mentioned but a Previa!!! anyway I saw a new offering tonight called Yianni Supercar Customiser apparently to the stars that;s if you class Harry Styles a star? but to be fair to him at least he;s spending his money on motors

I watched Goblin Works Garage on Quest the other day and quite enjoyed it - after all it's another car show!

But they managed to sell a MK2 Escort Sport fitted with a tuned 2 litre Zetec for £28K!

I knew I should have kept my MK2 RS2000. bangheadlaugh

I love watching car SOS and I'd be surprised if any of their work was under par as even for a TV show they do seem to go the extra mile.

Did you see the Daimler Dart episode for example? When this came out the spray booth it looked a million dollars love

Yep, only on pistonheads would someone complain about that!

No wonder people are so happy to receive £50k worth restoration, which they are presumably free to do whatever they like with afterwards. I'd be crying too. I'd save them the bother though and just take a cheque....

Yes, except that that would be less of a show and definitely not a car show.

Restoring old relics like this is a monumental waste of money. Who wants them any way? Most are impractical, unsafe, inefficient, unreliable and plain slow.

It would be even more of a car show if they just showed the restoration of the car, rather than the utterly pointless "emotional" back story.
Presumably there only to appeal to people on mumsnet

The back story is bearable. No harm in trimming it to the bare essentials but it’s a relatively small part of the show. What is depressing is the staged fannying about of the tall bloke. His inane antics make you think the show is actually aimed at utter cretins. What sort of punter finds that sort of low brow panto crap remotely entertaining?
