Impressive car but for me it's not much of a looker. The S class is the more impressive car aesthetically. At this kind of price point it's up against some difficult competition. You can get a very low mileage, still under warranty Mulsanne for this kind of money and that's in another league.

it'll always be looked at as the poor mans S class.

Not keen on the styling, although what an engine! 6.6litres. Well done BMW!

This is probably a great car. While not elegant like the E32 or E38, the styling is also better than the last generation (the F01).

However where there should be a big V12 badge on the top of the engine there is instead M Performance written in a similar font to Ford's font from the 1980s. A missed opportunity!

If BMW aren't confident because of this reason, then neither are Merc (who have V12 biturbo badges, AMG badges etc on their car).
Also Porsche who have diesel written on the side of the new Panamera diesels!

They will only sell one and I am having it biggrin

Truth is the cooking diesel ones are so good, why would you unless doing some kind of Brewsters Millions scenario, be interesting to see who actually goes in and buys one, you are getting into Bentley Spur and 2 year old Roller Territory, it is sort of super posh company car, rather than private posh somehow.
I'll be looking at one too. Problem with the Bentley and the Rollers is that they're a little too obvious.

I take your point about the diesels though.

Love the rear.

It seems the limits of over indulgence and pampering of those execs has not yet reached it's zenith.

There's wearing a name, and there's splashing engine size everywhere. Neither the Panamera nor S65 show their configuration as ostentatiously. Nice for first division footballer types though.

Handy if your businessman boss on the back seat is running late to catch a flight.

"Gatwick, sir? As quickly as possible, sir? Of course. Please fasten your seatbelt."

BMW just doesn't have the badge prestige to succeed in the CEO category in the UK. BMWs are for low to middle managers on newbuild housing estates, not really for powerful directors at the top of the tree.
What a crock of bks
The A, C, and E classes are all director cars, evidently.

Love it. Only because in an age of downsizing, it has an additional 600cc over the old 760. It also does the opposite of most BMWs currently by having a larger engine than the badge states. I like that a lot.

Not sure the noise that engine makes is what I'd want in this car, neither pleasant nor distinguished.

No one at all that buys this car will be pleasant or distinguished either. So it works.

I regularly drive new 7 series around and can say that I can't see the point in the V12 super saloon, the smaller diesel engines cars are perfectly adequate for what is the most luxurious car I've ever had the pleasure to drive. It drives like an old sponge but who cares when you're surrounded by the softest leather, incredible sound system, massage seats (about 10 different types of massage too) not to mention all the incredible driver aids and gadgets. Just get a cheaper diesel model and a Caterham, they won't sell very many especially as Mercedes have the market sewn up....the Mercs may not be as sumptuous but they are a lot more classy.
I know someone who has one (750i) and have driven alongside him, they are absolutely rapid and look pretty subtle

if you can afford one and are the kind of person who takes personal insult to losing at a traffic light GP then they make sense

The BMW configurator allows you to spec a car and click through to finance where you are given a gfv, yet strangely keeps giving an error for this model!

Wonderful car but I'm curious to know what bmw actually think they'll be worth in 3 years time......

Impressive machine, but rather disgusting ostentatious styling and ridiculous levels of chavtastic badges. One should not need to shout about the fact it is a V12. And the M badge on a 7? Also those fake rear exhausts? FFS they're on everything now!
