Not a fan really, though I've had a few cars with black wheels! But only when they already came with them on.

For me... dark coloured car - bright silver wheels, light coloured car - anthracite wheels. Have seen gold/bronze look good on white too though.

Looks like a pensioner wearing the latest trainers nono
Sorry don't understand the comparison of black wheels to the "latest trainers".
Nothing new about black wheels, Ford were putting them on Model-T's over a hundred years ago smile

Bit of a quandary here,

Just got this, Mineral White, black cf roof and Fox Red interior. Not a huge fan of black wheels but the car already has 3 different colours so very dubious about introducing a 4th.

Original plan was to re-do them silver, now not so sure.

Did this back in 2005, thought they went well with the vinyl roof and other black bits. Also did the bonnet and A-posts...

3.0 Ghia , brings back some great memories. Very nice.

Back and orange is a great combo
Following the delivery we had at work this morning, I'd be inclined to agree with that;

Not sure mine would look better with silver wheels, black are as supplied by Lotus

My previous Evora had silver wheels for summer and black wheels for winter, I liked both

edit to add - goddamm IOS image rotation - will have to fix it later

This is an honest black wheel...and well used.
Because of that it looks 100% better than all the Audi's, Beemers, Lambos et al that wear high value beautifully designed wheels, that become invisible in black...
Contrast I understand, but not to the point where you can't tell if there's anything there to contrast with...plenty of photos here show that, especially that Orange SUV...
I just hope to god you carry a rag around to keep 'em shiny thumbup

I actually can't decide if I like my black wheels or not! I might go back to silver. But the theme for the entire car is yellow and black, inside and out!

Some look great with black wheels.....but what does look crap is when someone puts alloys of any colour onto a car with drum brakes.....looking at rusting drums through 5 spoke alloys is pants.....don't do it

My Mini (pepper white) has black alloys on summer tyres and steel wheels for winter tyres....when the steel grey wheels are on it looks crap....it looks far better with black alloys.

Some of the cars above are A1

My soon to be delivered Yeti Montecarlo (don't laugh) has black wheels as standard. I don't think I'd have spec'd it like that but on a cheap lease who's arguing?!

I'll have to see the car in the flesh before passing judgement but I'd be surprised if I dislike them.

Change them to silver, it looks crap.

I'm not a fan off totally black wheels. The tyre / wheel can then just merge into a nothing and look invisible under the arches.

But if the black is broken by a bold centre colour and / or a polished silver rim, then I think it can work well.

Very personal thing though.

I painted the wheels on mine in 2004 mainly to hide the brake dust but when I replaced that (red) Alfa with a black one I swapped the wheels onto it for the Darth Vaders Taxi look.

Since then I've decided that black wheels have been done to death so I've painted the spare set anthracite ready for the new tyres to go on.

A few years ago, black wheels on cars were quite a rarity. They were generally found on top spec ‘sporty’ versions of cars. Nowadays any lightly breathed on warm hatch seems to have black wheels.

I used to think black wheels were cool, I’m now starting to think they look a bit tacky. It's a bit like when car manufacturers went mad sticking spoilers on any remotely quick cars back in the 80s.

Am I wrong? Please discuss.
Black wheels worked for me on the last family car I built.... biggrin

A neighbour, thankfully not too near, has just bought a new Micra with tinted glass, a clumsy roof spoiler & BLACK WHEELS & you have never seen anything so stupid. Heavens knows what silly price was paid, & then there's the depreciation - I fail to understand some peoples mentality but Nissan & their salespeople must be laughing.

Not totally black, but I quite like them on my Golf. Each to their own...
