I don't think the silver centre caps are helping that black evo out, kinda look like those vintage Matchbox cars which had the solid silver axle protruding through the centre's of the wheels.

The wheels need to be darker than the tyres for it to look any good, which is why so many are anthracite/ dark grey.

Still, jet black helped sell loads of those "limited edition" sh*tbox Corsa's (so there's a big market out there when Mr Evo comes to sell up laugh )
Got to laugh at some of this stuff. You only get it on PH.

Other than preferring the car to be dent free, and clean rather than dirty, as said earlier, the appearance is of pretty secondary concern over how it goes. Realistically, it could do with some paint to sort out the mega stone chipped front end, but what's the point. Given the life it leads, it'll get chipped again. It doesn't get much attention generally, which suits me. Given the age and value of it, selling up would be fairly pointless as it couldn't be replaced with anything for the same money that would have a hope in hell of hanging onto it on a country road. The " big market " will just have to do without! Fortunately, I'm happy to struggle on with the difficulties involved in owning such a controversial car! smile I know, I know, I'm selfless, big shoulders, tuff with two effs, etc, etc.

Right, off out for a cruise to McDonalds through the deprived estates with me gangsta homies in a area, innit. Then Halfords for some more black paint, yo. Big up.

Only two colour choices, white with black wheels or black with same.
I chose black, but hard work to keep it clean.

The right answer is ‘it depends’.
Very dependent on car, colour and even purpose of car.
Unless the car has at least some sporting pretensions, it can look like a suit with trainers or a tracksuit with brogues.
Supercars can generally get away with anything.
More modest stuff has to be more careful.

Overall I don’t like it but every now and again it looks ok.

Yep, agree with most of that. I don't like the general trend for them, and it looks wrong on lots of stuff, my own included going by the reactions here, but obviously it's a subjective issue. There's been some stuff posted on here I couldn't contemplate as having black wheels on, but they're not mine, so I don't criticise.

Fellow black wheeled caymonite. Be prepared to be deemed “council”, “chavvy” or a “drug dealer” on this thread, or you might be lucky to have a combo package like “council drug dealer” or “chavvy council”.

We’ve been appraised by the objective arbitrators of motor fashion. Well, bar a few fortunate souls. biggrin

Try specsavers mate, I can see the design quite easily.

Pistonheads. Where exaggerating to get your point across matters.

Look rubbish on most cars. People just change the colour because there's not much else to change on a car.

I went with black wheels on the wife’s car... mainly as it was easier to touch them up once a week when she kerbs them , other than that I picked the full council package . Black on black bmw with chav plate... job done . Now I can drive like a nob and no one cares, it’s actually expected of me when I roar up and down my council estate making the drop offs in ma bimmer innit thumbup

I hope you don't drive as you must be blind or maybe you are just a bit envious of quality cars.... you being in a lowly Golf and all that smile

Can’t say I’m a fan of black wheels, though sometimes they look OK on white or bright-coloured cars. Not a big fan of black cars with black wheels - looks tacky and way too overdone (exceptions will be made for muscle cars with deep-dish steelies!)

I do quite like the gunmetal grey look however.

Sometimes they come like that. 2 GT4s for sale at the opc down the road. They both were made with black wheels. Look fantastic in my opinion. Some might say rubbish and I think that’s their tase. To me they’d look less awesome than the awesomeness they already have with lighter wheels. Not sure all that stuff others mention about not being able to see the design. I can see the design of black wheels perfectly in the flesh. They must have very bad eyes biggrin
