Yeah, its not like they've got past sporting history in this respect is it.....

<cough>

I really like that, but it'd look a lot cooler (and probably be a lot faster) with a decent aero package... big wing on the back for example, and it'd make it look a bit more 'modern' biggrin

"Whether the noise appeals or not..."
Noise = nuisance.
Sound = Mozart, a blackbird's song or a Ferrari 355 with a Capristo exhaust.

nice.

as suggested before, these are a veyron ss 'light' version and imo it's 'retarded' to hate them if you are a petrolhead.

They're just old hat now surely. The same basic design has been around for years, yet people still buy them.

I adore these and I would have one in that exact spec. If only some of the black trim at the front could be colour coded it would be perfect.

Seriously, why stop at 2.2 tonnes? Lets see it go for 3. And try crashing through a few more Halfords stores while they're at it. Because, you know, it needs more ugly tat to be plastered all over it. Just in case we missed the QE2 sized barge the first time.

FFS. What kind of retard buys this?
Well someone's never been in or driven a Conti.

Why do people buy these? I like to think I'm not a retard and I'm not a football player! I bought my (3yr old) GT Speed because I needed a proper 4 seater. The big Ferraris have never really done it for me and cost quite a lot more. The Astons are too tight in the back (I wanted a coupe not 4 door), similarly the 991. Test drove a Gran Turismo, and liked the noise but it didn't feel well put together. The AMG CL I liked but the interior was a bit uninspiring. A better car though and in a way I wish I'd bought it. But Mercs do depreciate more (well maybe). M6? Again a better car but the looks don't do it for me. The Bentley is very fast in a straight line, and has a great interior (most are reasonably restrained). Despite the 'heritage' it is no sportscar, but hey, very few modern cars are that inspiring in that regard. I'd imagine it would be comical on a circuit, as even an SS must be despite being "tightened up". BUT boy was it unreliable!!!! And I have to say I never warmed to it in the way I did to the various 911s I have owned. If I had shorter children that is where I'd put my money.

Obviously I have never met Big_Rob and he may well be a stand up chap but he does seem have a thing about Bentley's we had a disscusion about them losing value on a previous thread (odd thing to worry about all cars do it dont they) never driven one but have been a passenger a couple of times and yes its on my my list of cars to test drive should I be in a position to spend that sort of money

Hmm. Eye watering depreciation, high running costs, and unreliability as posted by previous owners.

Capped by "all cars depreciate dont they"? Err, no. I sold my 22b for over triple what I paid for it, for a start. And I wish I had held onto it, because its gone up significantly since then. My only consolation is that the money immediately went into property, which also went up, but it isn't nearly as fun to drive a property.

It may offend you, but I look at cars with a long term view.

Hahaha sure it is a sweeping generalisation that all cars depreciate, but I think we'd all agree most do. It is certainly fair to say that few appreciate meaningfully in the first 20 years of their lives as I suspect you will find with your Lexus!

Now that you've agreed to change tack, yes, I agree with you. But since you brought up the Lexus, allow me the right of reply.

Lexus has won the JD Powers quality awards something like 15 years in a row. These cars simply last forever, with quality manufacturing processes. It will not let you down, which is something you cant say for cars like this one, costing silly money. Imagine having spent so much money, only to find yourself stuck by the side of the road waiting for the AA? Laughable at best.

Yes, the Lexus will depreciate. You are quite correct. Although I would never buy one new, simply because I don't believe ANY new car is worth the money, and I'd rather some other mug take the depreciation hit.

Well fortunately for many on here, myself included, the purchase and ownership of a car isn't only about the maths, it is about the thrill and enjoyment that owning a car brings. My GT Speed was unreliable, the media/ nav woeful, and as I said previously I didn't in the end warm to it. But I'm glad I owned it; it had the best interior of any car I have owned, the delivery of its 600hp was pretty epic, and I had great fun crossing Europe in it on a couple of occasions. Was it worth the year of depreciation? You betcha!

I don't think its particularly big or clever, but if you enjoy burning money, have at it.

After all, there are plenty of people who are thankful you guys shelled out for the new cost of these moving money pits, so that we can scoop them up for a pittance once depreciation has bitten.

Thanks guys smile
