Actually that's a very good point. I have it in mine but never use it. I might start using it to see how it goes.

I use it for phone calls, much easier than trying to use touchscreen on the move!

I admit I tried it a few times to put an address in whilst on the move but it kept getting wrong so I gave up. I rang the BMW Concierge in the end. boxedin

The only real use I have found for voice activation is to make me laugh when my Italian wife who learnt English in Bath and Cape Town tries to use it. The Apple TV doesn't even work with proper English, I have to slap some Mockney gangsta hybrid garage at it to stand a chance. It's easier to just type. Do I want to be driving down the road ranting at a lump of soft touch dashboard while driving just to get my balls tickled by a 72 motored seat? I'd have more luck asking the wife with my
Best Eugene Tere Blanche impression. It's all a load of tosh for senile old goats riddled with piles and neck aches and beareded fanny farts with arthritic fingers from a lifetime of playing computer games. Just what the duck is wrong with getting into a car, turning the key and just driving the dumb fking lump?

Still think the VELAR looks like a nice car though. biggrin

Sorry. What's the on trend terminology this week? wink

'Pulling the trigger on the emotion validation device'?

'Becoming one with machine'?

'Slipping it the length'?

Stupid names given in marketing junk aside, what possible issue could you have with getting in your car and just pushing a button? Certainly preferable to scratching around the steering column with a key and then pissing about with steering lock as far as I'm concerned.

Same goes for voice activation. Rather hit and miss with sat-nav destinations I agree but fantastic for making calls and finding songs without needing to mess about with menus for 5 minutes.

Don't get me started on in car touchscreens though. Now that is very much a step too far.

I don't have an issue with it and never said I did. I was just being mocked for using the expression 'turning the key'. Despite it being a much more pleasant expression than 'push the button' which is just junior cockspeak for 'pull the trigger'.

I passed one of these yesterday.

The overriding impression was one of size, it looked absolutely massive. Particularly because of all the metal above the rear arches and very high glass - house.

I was quite taken aback and not in a good way.

As you say, it must be the slab sided expanse of metal.

It's actually 4cm less tall than a Cayenne, 5.2cm shorter in length, and 2cm narrower with the mirrors out.

Like the look of this, except... That C pillar. Otherwise, why bother with a RRS?

Are any of these available to see in LR showrooms yet after the Hype of Geneva?

I asked my local dealer - September time was the answer.

I meant to upload this before - forgot, sorry.

Although the car does look reasonably large at first glance, get up close and it's not massive at all. Open it up, mind, and it's actually small inside.

@Cobanight thanks for that. If anyone knows where there is one physically on show to try out please do let us know.

It's bigger, availability of seven seats, low range box, 3.5 tonne towing etc.
