Agree price is same as the sport.
That's if you spec it up. Loads of people will scrape into the poverty spec one which is £15k cheaper than the RRS at £45k vs £60K
I just did a perfectly good poser spec for £47k

Basic engine
380W Meridien
Black pack
Pano roof
Privicy glass
Front rear parking

If it had a 600Hp engine it would still only tow 2,500kg as that is it's max GVW. In other words any vehicle is only allowed to tow its own weight. From trailer hitch backwards must not weigh more than from the trailer hitch forwards for simplicity.

Same for any non LGV vehicle.

What it can physically pull is another matter altogether.
My Defender can tow 3,500kg and I don't think it'll have a GVW anywhere near that much?

But it would if you loaded the rear load space with ballast!!! Which is the only way you can tow 3,500kg

You do realise that makes no sense, right?

Looks much nicer than the new Discovery but no 7 seat option (unless I'm mistaken?) will mean it'll be a tough sell to Mrs D. Our Disco 4 is ready for a change but it's a fairly small shortlist of contenders.. Q7 maybe an option.

Err, the RRS, D5 and Disco Sport have that covered.

But if my GVW is less than 3,500kgs I wouldn't be able to load it to that? Basically, it can tow more than its own weight, as can the new Velar and presumably many other cars.

It should have a V8.

The "VELAR" bit is from the name of the original Range Rover isn't it?

VELAR = V Eight LAnd Rover

Where on earth did you read that?

The Velar name was derived from the Italian "velare" meaning to veil or to cover. Range Rover development engineer Geof Miller used the name as a decoy for registering pre-production Range Rovers

boo... air suspension not standard across the range....

the boot capacity figures are misleading these days..... the high window lines means the boot cover can be higher and suddenly that boot capacity figure gets bumped up... i bet in reality it's no bigger than macan in terms of total carrying volume.

My brother was in charge of the interior, he seems quite happy about it! looks pretty awesome.
What's his name? I have a lot of friends who also worked on the interior, in particular the screens.
Martin B, think he is in head of interiors at the moment (one of two?)

I prefer turbobanana's version (and is quite logical), although most of the recent references quote the velare meaning. Either way, nice motor although a V8 is missing from the lineup but wouldn't be surprised to see other engines including a V8 added to the mix for MY2018/9 perhaps??

In a single stroke, JLR just made a Tesla interior look very outdated.

To be fair Musk got one of his kids to glue an ipad into the Model s.. which has had a recent interior update and the 3 should have some better stuff as they have hired volvos interior guy to sort.

Looking at the amount of new technology in that car coming from a jlr factory it will be full of glitches
My fpace was rejected after six weeks full of faults and build issues and I didn't even have the upgraded computer Stay well clear

And we bought a new Golf last year that just has pathetic build quality. Unfortunaltely it started falling apart at 7 months old, so unable to reject with any decent offer from VW. Last VAG car we buy.
