The fact diamonds are in NO WAY rare and their value is a function of excessive marketing and a lot of market manipulation/monopolization is NOT up for dispute tho ;0

Away from the main point you are making it is worth pointing out that diamond dust is a byproduct of cutting diamonds. It's not like Rolls Royce are going to Tiffany's, selecting their best stock and then crushing it, although I'll bet that's how it's marketed.
