Gaydon was an RAF station/airfield, not a build facility for any V-bombers I belive.

You don't think it might be an extension of the serial naming of cars since the 1960's such as Vantage, Volante, Vanquish etc?

A six engined mach 3+ penetrator is the physical incarnation of acting upon intelligence concerning Soviet missile tech. It just wasn't as good as the SR-71, ultimately.
