Even more impressive then to be ~250kg lighter for a similar sized vehicle. This can't be in the aluminium body structure alone, so I presume trim quality and spec will be quite a bit different too.
Agree in principle. Trim looks good quality to me though. But it is certainly more spartan inside compared to say a 718. I quite like that, but not everybody will. As more info comes out it really looks like they've been pretty thorough with the weight reduction. The wheels are acutally forged (Fuchs), instrument cluster is just a TFT, Brembo made them rear calipers with integrated e-brake (supposed to save 2.5 kg/corner), super light seats (13,5 kg but means you have to bolt/unbolt for height adjustment), small washer bottle, lots of little stuff really. Sounds like they designed to the target weight of ~ 1.1t wet and are quite proud to get that through to production. Well done, even if some choices are controversial (E-Diff, E-Brake, E-Pas, DCG, some parts bin controls).
Pity we'll have to wait until fall to have some real insight... Let's hope they really captured some of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-72TsfftIO8.

Again, I could be wrong, but I think the RHD numbers left are for Japan as its not yet homologated there.
Hasn't been confirmed yet but it's going to be a starter for the Aus (RHD) market too. Aus is the 2nd largest market in the world for Renaultsport after France (and it's the 3rd largest market in the world for the GT86:BRZ after the US & Japan). So they may actually sell more of them in Aus than the U.K.The only country that has any allocation left is the UK and the amount available has hardly moved from day of release.
Not sure why so few are finding buyers in the U.K. The lack of a fixed price wouldn't bother me. We know it will be €55-60K.
I suspect that st on a stick with an Alpine badge would sell in the LHD markets but if the new A110 was a 1000HP supercar for €60K, it would still struggle to find buyers in the U.K.
It is going to take a lot to change that view but a decent high profilereview would probably see the available 180 odd units shifted.

Here http://www.express.co.uk/life-style/cars/776557/Re... are quoting £50,757 for the premiere edition. I suppose that about the same as a well specced 718. Will be interesting to see how the specs compare.

Can I ask where you are getting your info from please? Not sure why so few are finding buyers in the U.K. The lack of a fixed price wouldn't bother me. We know it will be €55-60K.

To reserve one of the launch cars, you download the Alpine app where you are able to register your interest and make a reservation. I registered the day the app went live and there were 195 UK cars. I didn't look at any other country.
Last night there were about 187. Interestingly, this morning there are only 48. Only about 6 cars that had gone up until last night so I doubt 140 have gone overnight. I suspect some of the UK allocation has been reallocated to either LHD or other RHD markets.
The figures are those that have come from the Alpine app but the re-allocation is my guess.
If there are only going to be 50-60 UK launch cars then I suspect they are going to be quite a rare sight.

Would be nice if you could fight your way through . There's a vid on YT where one can get a very brief glimpse and they claim it has 100l rear / 96l front. Would be very interesting to have pix though.
+1 seems a bit adrift of toxicnerves impression, and only about two thirds of the two boots in a Cayman. Still a lot better than an Elise, for example.kambites said:
The Elise is 115 litres in the boot plus the shelf behind the seats, so not that much less than stated above for this. The problem with the Elise has always been more access than actual capacity.
The shelf behind the seats doesn't hold much unless you are short - but presumably there is some similar space in the Alpine. Certainly to be a car that you can sensibly take on a European holiday (as opposed to a weekend away) it needs more space than the Elise. (I've owned an Elise, now a Cayman and something "between" the two has real appeal)Shoegrip said:

Maybe it's because everyone's skint because BREXIT. Or maybe it's because by and large anything Renault hasn't done too well over here recently? Not sure why so few are finding buyers in the U.K. The lack of a fixed price wouldn't bother me. We know it will be €55-60K.
I think it's a cracking-looking little thing, would take one over a RS Megane or Clio any day.

They are chalk and cheese though.I think it's a cracking-looking little thing, would take one over a RS Megane or Clio any day.
It needs to take sales from BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche at that price level.
It'll do ok I imagine but the lack of high bhp or exotic engine will dampen sales.

The masses will think it is just a rebodied Megane though which is another reason it is unlikely to do well here.
