I read it. It'd be 50 grand by the time you add a few options, a ridiculous amount of money for a four pot. The six pot starts at 50 so will be more like 60 unless you want boggo spec.

Either way I was bitten by Mercedes with a 2002 SLK and some experience of a 2006 SL, both of which were made during the dark times for the brand when the bean counters took over. The myriad of problems with both and the general dealer inability to fix them has made me very wary of switching from the blue propeller.

£50k + options no doubt for a v6 E-Class coupe.

Or £50k with full options for a low mileage CL600 coupe....

Nonsense. The list price for an E300 AMG Line Coupe is £41k, broadspeed already offering a £4k discount. The spec on an AMG Line is decent, even with £3k of options which is about right IMHO, you'll still get it for 40k.

Oh, and dismissing a car from 2017 with brand new architecture based on an SLK from 15 years ago and an SL from 11 years ago. Yeah that's sensible...

Saw one of these in Austria a few weeks back. Looked really good to me (and I'm not normally an MB fan).

It does amuse me how people keep bleating on about the "stuck on ipads". The new E-Class has one (or two if you spec it) fully integrated screens, as the interior pictures show. The new 5-Series has a separate, stand up screen on the top of the dash, yet no complaints? Could be the blue and white badge, I suppose... hehe

Or perhaps they just look out of place (to me they do!)

Other than that what a great looking car yes

Finally, a current generation Mercedes I like.

I think the interior looks great.
I agree I don't like any of the current line up but this is the first one of the current design theme that I like, the proportions inside and out just seem to work.

I really like it.

It has a nice rear end and interior, but from the front it looks a little too bulky, but that's how they make them now at Mercedes.

Even the interior looks pretty decent.....until you get to those ridiculous stuck on ipads that is.
Look at the photos, I think you'll find a. there's only one what you call an 'ipad', and b. it's not an ipad. Am I looking at the same photos as everyone else? smile

See those two things outlined in read with 3 inch bezels that look like they came off a laptop from the 80's and the edges sticking out like they are stuck on top of the dash rather than integrated into it like in other cars? That's what I'm talking about, they look like ipads, and knock-off ipads at that. They have taken enough stick from owners and non-owners about them, just do a search for Mercedes floating screen. I'd have thought they'd have listened to their customers and changed it by now but obviously not.

Very nice, seems like they've really gone for it on interior quality.

I suspect they have indeed gone for it on the interior quality. Have they done the same to the exterior quality? The interior looks like it could damage your eyes in much the same was as if a child were to spend too many hours in front of the telly. It looks seriously busy.

Daft response to a new car isn't it.

It's a real shame what they've done with the backseat windows to an otherwise handsome design

It's unfortunate, but due to the rear wheelarch necessary to enable the rear side windows to open. Not as obvious in the metal, especially with privacy glass.

Whatever anyone thinks of the looks, MB have to admired for not constantly knocking out the same old same old like VW, AUDI, BMW, Porsche.
Are you for real? Go back a few years when BMW released the radically different E60 5 series and E65 7 series!!

This E class looks VERY similar to the C and S class coupes (not that that is a bad thing) but to say the others are knocking out cars all looking the same and to say this is different seems somewhat bizarre!

Because the BMW 6 series looks identical in every way to a Z4 or 3 series hehe
The next BMW 6 Series had better be good!
Why?

The 6 series doesn't and has never competed with the E class.

The 6 series at a list of £67k competes with the CLS and Audi A7 with the Gran Coupe and kind of on its own with the Coupe and Convertible.

Mercedes seem to have gone much like Audi by making their models clones of each other, the last E Coupe was lovely but this seems too safe and a little boring although the interior is quite impressive, but I'm unsure about the dash...

It's one thing, surrounded by one bezel, and it's a dash.
