Had my Pre-Facelift model for just under a year and it's been great.

It's a fun little car to drive, quick enough and a real laugh when you put it into Race/full manual. There is something lost when you're on a good road and you have no clutch pedal, but on 99% of my drives that's not the case.

I'd agree about the Normal mode being a bit lazy and Sport being too urgent, they could both easily be replaced by an in between mode.

I've done 12k since I bought it, at least half of that in the past couple of months going back and fore from Cardiff to Bristol on the M4. The auto is great in traffic.

It replaced a Megane Cup (MK3) and I haven't really missed that car at all, given that that's held up and the best of the recent hot hatches, I think that's decent praise!

Agreed, asking price is £17k for essentially the same car.

It's a shame the optional Sports Seats in the Pre-Facelift 220 Trophy ain't an option for this current Trophy, as they look bloody good and really improve the Interior.

Still i really do like these now, have grown on me massively, but there's something about it that would sway me to buy a 208 'By Peugeot Sport' instead, i don't know what though 🤔

The current Corsa 'E' VXR with the 'Performance Pack' is worth a shout to, tight Drexler LSD, 4 Pot Brembos with meaty 330mm Discs and Koni Dampers, coupeled with Remus Back-Box, adds some noise too!

I think the Auto only has killed this car especially with the ST & 208 GTI being available.

I'd like to try one out for a while, but I'd be comparing it to the 182 Trophy as opposed to the current RS offering.
For me though, the idea of a Trophy model should be something a little special. Something that is slightly less compromising, with less weight, fancy suspension gubbins and a limited run. Preferably with more power and fancy brakes, unlike the original one...

This just seems to be the best one they do, with the Trophy name attached in an attempt to sell more. Which doesn't seem to have worked.

And it should only be in red...

Totally prepared to eat my words if it's good.

I really fancy one of these tbh, although I'd go for a lightly used 200 with the standard 17" wheels, which at about £13,000 for a 1 year old model seems like astonishing value to me.

Do these still share some switchgear with a 2002 Clio? biggrin
Probably. In the same way an F-Type shares some switchgear with a Freelander.

If you don't mind the box, a pre-FL at £17k seems excellent VFM. Shouldn't depreciate too much either at the money, £150/month tops for a couple of years. Bargain for someone.
You can get a 16 plate Megane 275 Cup-S for the same price

Correct and despite the absence of any options (Recaro, Nav or Monitor or even climate) that Evans Halshaw car is a lot of car for the money ! That would be my choice too although I can totally see why the practicality of 5 door and an auto box might be someone else's preference.

I'm sure these are genuinely decent cars, but I think Renult's problem is that we're living in a pretty great time for this class of car in general. When you're asking 6 grand more than a base Fiesta ST, and 3 grand more than the ST200, you'd better have something pretty special to offer. "Genuinely decent" just won't cut in this climate.

After making eggs sunny-side up, deglaze the pan with sherry vinegar, then drizzle the sauce on the eggs to add another dimension to the dish.

Try driving a Megane in traffic and you'll be begging for the auto wink

Some of my first 8k miles in the Megane since May 16 have been in heavy traffic and I haven't noticed anything untoward. If anything auto gives me a pain in the ankle in traffic as I guess I am not used to be on the brakes so much.

I still really like the MK4 Renaultsport Clio. I had a farce of a test drive in one for less than 10 minutes. I wasn't left wanting one like i was straight after a 20 minute blast in the Fiesta ST. But, i was left thinking that there is definitely a really great car in that Clio and i needed a bit more time in one to uncover it.

I actually prefer the pre-facelift. I do like the new LED lights and such on the new one but the older versions look like an absolute bargain on the used market now. Early 200 EDC's are falling to around 10k and early 220 Trophy's are about 15k.

In fact, this is a car i'd actually like to own. I don't really needs 5 doors but they are hidden well enough and the automatic is perfect for my commute. To be really honest, i'm getting bored with a manual now and i really fancy an auto with paddles.

My next car will be a Renaultsport Clio. My initial plan was to buy a 172 or 182 for cheap and run it as a daily but every time i look at these i do hanker after one. Saying that, it would require a bank loan for around 10k, which is something i wanted to avoid.

I do want one of these. And I have two RS Clio's already.

I wonder what legroom is like because I'm a lanky fecker.

the trophy is much better than the standard car, I've driven both and and off the track

the 220trophy is an underated car imo, with a remap to ~260bhp it'd be a formidable daily driver

3 issues for me, before even looking at price.

1) RenaultSports should be 3 door, producing all shells in 5 door is cost saving at it's finest
2) There is a sport button - it should always be in sport (I figure thats because of emissions, auto + eco for emissions testing?)
3) Auto box.

I have heard the same from people who owned both. I'll be on a hunt for a new car this time next year so will see how much the PFL 220 Trophy's drop to.

The thing is, the 200 EDC's can also be mapped to around 240 bhp. I need to get a drive in a Trophy but i didn't see much wrong with the 200. The gearbox seemed decent enough but i just didn't have much opportunity to floor it.
