You could get a 997 or M3 for that money, I'll never understand why people would choose the Focus.
Really? You can't see that a Focus is much more practical and far cheaper to run than an 997 or M3?It doesn't seem that hard to understand to me.

Could understand a pricey mk1 RS, but these have always baffled me. I know the setup is supposed to be good, but it's still too much power for the fronts. £20kish for a mk2 makes sense as they're sought after but this to me just seems ridiculous, there's a lot more you could get for your money, whether it be a well set up tool or just something to look at everyday. If you're genuinely contemplating buying this car I'd say STOP!! You can't afford the council house and the car, especially not when you've got your tattoo booked to get your stoke city fc badge printed on your arm...

Sorry I thought a door was something you actually use to gain ingress to the seats and the rear enty was a hatch hence hatch back? I stand corrected and will gain entry through the rear in future thanks for the tip.
Ok give you a low mileage dealer speculator Sapphire might be an exception but maybe because so many got converted to rear drive or the engines robbed for kit cars or old ford upgrades as they had little value a few years back except for the motor so perhaps there is hardly any correct ones left. Still think a Cosworth 3 door in your parlance is worth vastly more in like for like terms so you proved my point sort of. Either way a friend of mine with both types of cosworth is rubbing his hands together with glee.

In regards to the sapphire you think £13k for an old car with 150k miles is cheap?
Some people just can't admit when they are wrong.

Just because it's a hatchback doesn't make it inferior. Not everyone wants a German, RWD saloon/coupe/sports car with a nice interior. They can't be compared and are two completely different experiences.

Yes Sideways we seem properly suited for a full relationship when you have a bit more money obviously.
Heck Love my 3 door RS what is wrong with that.

My friend had a mk2 RS on order swopping an Escort Cosworth he owned; a bad move dynamically/residually... Same blue hue, looked dull unlike on the Escort. I preferred green.
I remember him trying to keep up with my stripped original Honda Crx VTEC on one chance encounter and every time from the line I remember the RS's absurd wheel spin and sound of shredded rubber all the way into third. Nice enough cars at eight tenths. He didn't keep it long after that.
No the Escort RS Cosworth was Imperial blue, Focus RS Performance Blue, lolI remember him trying to keep up with my stripped original Honda Crx VTEC on one chance encounter and every time from the line I remember the RS's absurd wheel spin and sound of shredded rubber all the way into third. I am sure if he also stripped his RS and modified it, he would have kicked your ass.
My Crx was 160bhp, around half the power, with only a few interior comforts removed...doing similar to the Focus would probably upset the balance and increase wheelspin.
My mallard green Escort or Sapphire stage 2 with bosch 803's could have despatched the little crx vtec effortlessly, but not the mk2 focus RS it seemed. Nice cruiser though with the five pot.
The problem I have with "the only way is up" argument is that this may hold true in the short to medium term but aside from wider market speculators, demand is essentially underpinned by people who wanted one when younger and can now get one.
There is however a tipping point when:
1) the above people start dying out and the cars either need to transition into true classic status (a la Aston, Pork or Fiasco)as assets that transcend generations or otherwise they go back down. If fast, scarce-ish fords only go up why are Lotus Cortinas not 100k rather than 30k ish?
2) People who do want one have the choice between a Cossie for X or say and Impreza or Evo for 1/4 or less. An objectively better car albeit perhaps less emotive although this is obviously subjective.
I can see why later Ford cars are garnering the money though because, iconic as the original Cossie is, she's a creaky old girl who you drive for the event and not so much for the performance.
Personally, I still think Mica blue STIs with gold wheels will within a few years shake off their chav chariot status, RB5s and P1s have already gone that way but the the myths of Subaru robustness are being exposed now and they will soon be expensive to buy and maintain.
I have a very low milage Evo VI that I love dearly and after owning for 12 years couldn't part from - I would love to pair it with a 55 plate STI with DCCD in Mica Blue with all the chav trimmings. I reckon £8-10k sunk into one of those will look like a bargain in 10 years.

One of my mates has a Mk2 (and a Mk1) RS and the first night we went out I was suprised that my other friend was able to pull a 3 car length on the Mk2 in his standard EP3. The 5 pot seems to take a long time to get working, but obviously once on boost it went off down the road.
I don't usually butt-in on these kind of posts but i do reckon that Mr Focus RS had a bad day driving here and the only reason this could have happened.EP3's wheel spin like mad and even if he was in the wrong gear, those turbos would be spooling up long before VTEC would have had chance to kick in.
