is it just me or are AM milking this fking James Bond thing AGAIN with these current models... see the "machine gun" headlights. They really really need to leave that whole thing behind, regardless of how lucrative it is!!
Part of the Aston design language from before their association with James Bond

ish... however to me, these new ones look specifically designed to appear as if something menacing is poking out... maybe i am the only one who thinks this.

Zagato Mostro? It’s certainly unique.

Yes, Zagato Mostro Maserati, influenced by the Zagato 450S:

And with more than a passing resemblance to the AC 378GT:

If Zagato did that to my MR2 I'd be rather cross.

Was in an interesting car sandwich earlier in central Brighton.

In front, a rather delicious sounding BMW 850 CSi and behind a rather menacing-looking-in-black 67 plate Merc SLS AMG

Nice! A tidy, well sorted CSI is one of the best looking cars designed/made over the last 30 odd years in my view. Pillarless coupes always draw the eye, and Klaus Kapitza drew a very svelte and sharp shape around that one conceit. Benz are king of the pillarless coupes, and I’ve had a few to enjoy, but the E31 is a classic example of BMW going for a new look or theme and nailing it first time, when others have taken decades and many model cycles to refine. Interestingly enough I read that the designer of the new forthcoming 8-series, John Buckingham, saw the old E31 as his absolute favourite car growing up. I prefer to believe him on this rather than cynically think he’s trotting out some corporate bullst bingo just to fit in and smile.

You can tell the E31 was designed to best known parameters of what was cutting edge at the time. My thinking/memory prompted by the thread on the first in car sat-navs, the swooping console of the 8-series was just never able to accommodate the forthcoming revolution in in-car tech; the E38 7 that came out in ‘94, I think was the first European mass production vehicle to have nav and televisions etc. Design on the E31 must have started in the mid to late 80’s. Still a great example of how quickly some manufacturers pivot to include new features.

I love the SLS. The SLR will always be the more bombastic, exotic and alluring car in my mind, and where my money would go, but I think it’s great that Benz allowed such a “vigorous” looking thing to be made in the first place. We live in sad times when published mpg, tax levels, and pony looking 3M wraps have primacy on people’s attention, but you’ve got to celebrate such a modern hot rod. Not sure we’ll see too many pushy designs like that going forward.

Gawd I think it still looks horrific, quite how they've got from the P1 to that is beyond me.

Agree, it looks like a P1 which has been Mansoried to death.

So they've had to stick the trade plate way up at the top.
Which tells me that someone didn't consider that road cars need somewhere to put a rear plate. Too busy focusing on "track car for the road"

Looking at the rear end, doesn't appear to be a suitable space for a plate anyway.

Anything on the diffuser is out for obvious reasons.
Central on the rear grille is probably a bit hot. but then that would cover the McLaren logo and you'll need to run some number plate lamps and wiring as well.

Just WHO is designing and running the project for this specific car? It's bizarre!

How can you go from P1 to "quirky/ugly" 720s to this nonsense in 5 years?!?!?
