I think the hard-top confuses matters as it looks great as a soft-top. I wanted a hard-top Morgan and went for the Aero Supersports. You can see the rear treatment is similar but seems to fit together better (for a Morgan!):

AMG SL65 according to the badges on it.
Not a genuine 65 as they had fixed roof, the car in your pic has convertible.
Lots of bodykit available for these.

Those wheels aren’t period for the car. Not saying it’s not an Alpina though. The wheels could have been added later.

So if it is a genuine car, what would it be worth?

DVLA says 1985 3.2 litre, so worth about £30k.

Wasn't it only the 65 black that had a fixed roof, rather than the regular 65?

Certainly the R230 SL65s were convertibles.

G12 B7 BiTurbo (RHD)

In contrast to the LHD version of this model the RHD version doesn't have 4WD but puts 608hp through the rear wheels.

One of 33 Japan-spec cars produced, of which 18 in Alpina Blue.
In addition to the Japan-spec cars, only a handful were produced for Australia, UK and Singapore...

As it's pre-facelift then it's a B3 3.3 Coupe or very early B3 S Coupe.
The wheels seem to be 19" wheels off a E60 B5.

Sydney is right - Black Series had fixed roof, regular V12 was still convertible.

Another giveaway is the rear ride height on these conversions, they look silly.

The black series body does look amazing though, so I wouldn't mind such a kit on a stock SL55/63 provided the rear ride height was fixed - and of course no black series badging.
