Hi there,

Spotted this yesterday in the local Tesco car park.

Had to Google it as despite being a true petrolhead I simply didn't recognise the car. Turns out is a Vignale Fiat Samantha.

I wonder if that's a recent restoration - it's appeared on the net quite a lot recently, has come up several times in FB "spotted" groups.
It’s a wonderful spot, that. Excellent.

It was offered at auction a few years ago:

That's a UK style Qatari plate
Guernsey surely?
No, Guernsey are black. These are Qatari plates in UK style, it's something they've started doing in the past couple of years.

RE the tints, police won't be able to do anything. It's not a UK car, it's here visiting and so the UK police have no way of enforcing it. Also it's a total waste of time.

I saw this a couple of days ago on New Bond Street in London. Parked outside the IWC watch shop (behind it's own velvet rope!), presumably it is the Merc 300 SL that David Coulthard will race at Goodwood this weekend. It is stunning and I nearly fell off my bike as I went past. No-one else gave it even a second glance...

See here: https://press.iwc.com/the-iwc-racing-team-heads-in...
I’m there this weekend - and now a little more excited too!
Looks like they competed in the Tony Gaze Trophy... and won it, destroying a load of Healeys, Jags, Triumphs and Morgans in the process! A fair fight?!?!?

Not a fair fight - but the front drivers all drove superbly so should be happy with their efforts.
Thanks for posting the photo, Petrus, and glad to hear it was a good race. Looks like you had great weather too.

They're popular wedding cars because they look vintage to the uninitiated, but they have Granada running costs.

I'm not sure why anyone would own one for any other reason smile

What a wonderful way to endorse ones life journey in to marriage.

A Ford Granada underneath a shoddy afterthought of bodywork to amaze friends and family.

for a 20 minute journey.

Nice, I’ve always loved the Corvette. Whenever I get the chance, with Hertz, if the office has the Adrenaline Collection, I’ll often go for their Z06s. Great fun.

I spotted that car on Sunday in a pub car park. I say I spotted it, my youngest son spotted it. I sent him to take a picture of it as I didn't know what it was.

.........another one I had to Google turns out this is a Lotus Elan Plus 2 prototype (albeit a replica).

Why would anyone convert a perfectly good Elan+2 into this monstrosity??

Sorry to interrupt, chaps, but this is possibly the best place to ask “where in London, specifically, would be a good place to take an easily impressed five year old to see some Ferrari type vehicles?”

It’s the holidays and I thought it might be nice to show him some in a 1:1 scale for a change but don’t fancy a wild goose chase just hanging around in Belgravia with my fingers crossed. Also, is the weekend the best time or are we likely to go home wagging our tails any day of the week?

Thanks in advance.

The Dorchester Hotel would be a good start, and the surrounding streets. Side streets off Park Lane are often interesting.
