I could live with the wheels, but surely that apostrophe must be an MOT failure.

Rep I’m guessing? Sadly let down by those horrible wheels!
It's not a rep of a t16, because it looks very little like a t16. Looks like a Dimma body kit to me.

looks like someone has just taken a dimma kitted one and decal'd it.

And probably McLaren's answer, looking a bit like a terrible replica/kit car? Some sort of semi-disguised LT on trade plates, near their HQ today...

Looks like a PDI for a customer's car (tape to protect front wheels and bodywork below belt line) - unlikely to be a prototype.'Just' a 600LT.

I was overtaken by Sarnie on the A42 earlier today if that counts.

Said to the wife "A McLaren.. oh hang on, that's the guy who sorted our mortgage from PH.. I think? Got to be? LT17..." Yeah.. it was...

Still better looking than a Senna though!!
Fairplay to them for doing something different, if you’re of a certain age then Dimma is something a bit special.
Beats the likes of things like the Bradistan KHAN laundry that we have today......

Uh huh! Friend of a friend back in the mid to late 90s had a dimma 205 followed by the clio... loved both.

yes Senna looks totally terrible, good shout. I am of that certain age, and whilst I was never a full fat max power fan, I always thought that for a mod the Dimma kitted cars looked good. Also there was a simplicity (appearance and engineering both) to cars of that era that you don't get now. Not down on that look at all. Just saying it probably stretches the definition of a 'rep'!

It's exempt from MOT now due to its age.

That's what I considered, by why would it only just have expired 6 months ago?

Because he chose to MOT it eighteen months ago, and didn't bother when it came up again a year later.

MOT exemption means you don't have to MOT it, not that you can't.

That’s interesting. Was it just heading into classic car status over the past six months? Otherwise, is there a benefit to getting an MOT if there’s no requirement to?

The MOT exemption law for historic vehicles (over 40 years old) only came into force in May last year. Prior to that it would have required an MOT.
