Kind of of tells you how ste they were, doesn't it? The Probe was ancient but the Cougar based on the Mondeo, you'd expect it to be much better but I guess by that point the march of the Germans was on and a front wheel drive coupe based on a Mondeo wasn't what people wanted.
An ex-gf of mine's father had the cougar as his dream car, he talked for ages about getting one and then bought one of those generation 1 Focus' with a saloon boot that replaced the Orion. Weird bloke all round.
